So I'm going to buy a 2003 mach 1 this afternoon and wanted to see what you guys though about it also. I drove it yesterday and the engine ran perfectly and the transmission shifted flawlessly. The exterior is very, very nice and the interior only has one small rubbing tear on the driver seat. Car has 107500 miles, new wheels and tires. Don't know if it is modified at all except the exhaust has magnaflows. I'll post pics. of engine bay later today or tonight to see if anyone can spot any bolt-ons b/c I don't know what stock looks like on these cars. Here is a link to the add........ He want's $9700, and I've only been able to talk him down to $9500.

2003 Mach1 Mustang negotiable

Please let me know what you think......

I'll have engine pics up tonight for sure. The car ran very well though when I tested it.... No weird noises, not a drop of oil anywhere under the hood. Just ran the CarFax report and it is clean. No wrecks, clear title, one owner owned the car for 7 years. Looks to be local car it's while life.

I'd be skeptical. Or at least do a thorough over look. He thinks he has a blower on the hood. that tells me he doesn't know what hrs has and probably didn't take care of it. But that is my favorite mach 1 color.

Also show up with 8500 cash. He says he will negotiate, he is willing to home down more than 200 bucks

That car is low..I'm thinking he cut the springs. Also looks a little rough around the Mach 1 striping. Can't see from the pics cus DSG hides defects well but I'd be wanting money off to have it detailed if the paint it that messed up.

Alright, well I got it for $8750. I'd post pictures but it's dark out now. I couldn't help but drive around for a few hours. :) You're all definitely correct he didn't know anything about the car, but he was also a young kid. haha. I had him meet me at Pepboys so we could check codes to make sure nothing was popping up. Everything runs great. No issues at all so I'm pleased. There are a few scuffs on the paint, but nothing bad at all. And the car sits real low.... gonna take a closer look tomorrow to see how it was done. I'll take some photos of it too and post them.......

The car is definitely fast.... feels a LOT faster than 305 HP for sure, but I think it looks stock under the hood. I'll need help figuring that out when I post pics tomorrow. All in all though I am very pleased with the deal I got and the car. It'll be with me for a long time I'm sure of it.

Yep, pictures are needed. Depending on what you're coming from, a stock Mach 1 might feel like a rocket lol. Good job on getting it!

Okay I've got some pictures for everyone....... Really loving this car..... Even if I payed a little too much. :) Plus, I had saved for a while and paid cash so I'm not in debt to it at least.

Please let me know what you think about it. Like I said I think everything under the hood looks stock. I didn't think about gears being changed though. I don't know if this helps but it does spin the tires from a dig and will get completely sideways going into 2nd gear if I'm wot. Interior I am very please with as it is near perfect condition for an 11 yr old car. Again, overall I am very pleased with it...... I've been looking for a while and as someone mentioned before, I've been seeing GT's in this area priced similar to what I got this for with around 80-100K miles on them.

Grabbed this from another forum since i dont know how to word stuff properly lol..

The simplest and easiest way to find out what your gear ratio is to jack up the rear of the car, I recommend putting it on jackstands for safety reasons, get some white out and mark the driveshaft. Spin one of the wheels slowly one time by hand and count how many times the mark you made on the driveshaft goes around. 3.5 turns would be 3.55 gears, 3 3/4 times would be 3.73 gears, 4 times would be 4.10s, etc.

You could also pop the diff cover and look for markings on the gear, but then you have to deal with the nasty gear oil and re-sealing the cover. I'm not sure about all the different brands of gears, but the Ford racing gears are stamped with their gear ratio.

If you car doesn't have an aftermarket gear in it I would recommend putting one in it- the best seat of the pants improvement you can make for little money.

Good Luck
