Ok, I just bought a 302 on Ebay for a $1.00 ( yep 1.00 ) They guy i bought it from, said that it was from an 83 T-Bird. He wanted more power, and removed the stock heads and then installed HO heads. nothing else. Got her Started and she was spitting fire from the exhaust for about 3 feet. So he removed it, and sold it to me for a buck. Any help on what I need to do to this to solve the problem, maybe New Cam, will it need to be rebored? Like I said, any help would be greatly appreciated, oh how do I tell if it is a W or a C

New cam to handle larger valves, that is a new one. I'd never go back to that mechanic. Possibly the cam timing is off, misadjusted valve train, plug wires like you said, ignition timing, etc. Start checking over things and take your time.hammer said:

sounds like the 302/5.0HO firing order confusion again...thay are different

I would def. tear it down and freshen it up before using it
