It was raining i was being a dumbass and poped the clutch and spun the tires threw fourth. when i hit fourth it just didnt feel right so i got off it then i smelled something burning and there was lil smoke and now when i accelerate it wheel hops a lil in never did this b4...i was just being a dumbass

You most likely couldn't hook up enough in the rain to smoke a clutch...Did the smoke smell like hot brakes? where was the smoke +1

The only smell my car makes other then smoked tires is burnt clutch and that smells horrid... I love the smell of tires and gasoline but when it comes too burnt clutch I almost choke....

The best way to see if you clutch is ok is to get on the highway and get up to 40mph and but it in 5th gear, then floor it. If the RPM's slowly climb then it is still good. The the RPM's shoot up really fast but the speed does not, you need a new clutch.

I also heard something about trying to pull away in 4th gear from a stop at 3 RPMS if you can pull off and not stall your clutch is bad if you stall you are good...

Dont quote me on that.....

Joe, the above is incorrect.

2006greygt, It doesnt matter if it was raining and he couldnt hook. It is still extremely easy to smoke a clutch in wet weather...maybe even easier.

To the OP, it is ok if you burnt it up a little unless this is done frequently. It should go away. Granted, I was not present so I don't know how bad the damage is. You can mess up a clutch with one bad episode.

Specs do not hold up entirely well. I have tested Spec, Centerforce, and Mcleod clutches on many cars and Mcleod is far superior to both of them. I am running a stage III Mcleod clutch and aluminum flywheel and it is phenomenal.

Was your traction control on at the time? If it was, it will apply the rear brakes to help control wheel spin. When the rear brakes come on and you're heavy on the gas, the clutch (the whole drivetrain really) and the brakes are taking a real beating. The burning could have been the brakes or the clutch. If the clutch is chattering, it was mostly likely the source. If you drive it easy for a while, sometimes the chattering goes away........
