Beating a dead horse:

I just bought a set of staggered machined 03-04 Cobra wheels (17x9 and 10.5). the fronts have goodyear 255s, that are in okay shape and the rears have no tires. Now I know these cars have trouble with fitting 315s. So my dilemma is that idk if i want to trade the 10.5s for 9s or just buy new rear 315s, and get the low profile irs bolts. Car is a dd and not a track car. I want what will be the most cost efficient. Also are spacers absolutely needed for the rear (seen people say a 3/8 spacer and extended lugs)

Just want other people's opinion/input.

People run 315s all the time. You can trim the head down on your irs bolt and run a spacer if you need to. If you're worried about cost, the wider tire will almost certainly be more than a more narrow option.
Ya i would most likely get nittos because I heard they run narrower than other 315s. But if I just buy tires then its like $400 and over with. Idk how long it will take me to find someone to trade and then buy new 275s for the rear. I just dont want to roll my fenders or have any rubbing

This process is actually a long story so I will just summarize.

I agreed to pay half down and take the front two wheels while he got the radials taken off the back two. Well he disappears for 5 days. No texts/calls, nothing. So I look him up and see that he was arrested a week before I met him and he got back to me and said that his son was in the hospital. So I still dont have the rear wheels after a week.

So I will have to wait to buy my tires and those irs bolts because the front two are Ford oem 17x9s so if its a matching set then the rears arent 10.5, but I dont know.

where did you get them from? forum? but yeah, i run rear irs bolts with 17x9 275/40 and 17x10.5 315/35 nitto nt05 with no issues and my car is lower than most. also for weekend runs with the boys, rear 15x8 centerline telstars 27x11.5 hoosier qtp.

Local guy. And I was gonna do either 275s or 255s up front and 315s out back with that irs bolt

Good luck with that. I just had a guy screw me out of parts and money.

I just got some 315/35/17 Nitto NT555s put on my 17x10.5" rims yesterday. I plan to bleed my brakes tonight so I can measure the width of the tires mounted on the rims if that would help you. And the NT555Rs run narrower than the regular 555s, so you might want to look into those. I have no problems with fitment, but I have a SRA opposed to your IRS.

A measurement would help thanks! And I don't want radials so hopefully the 555s are narrow enough

Alright, I'll also get some measurements of the rim like backspacing and such. I'll take a look today if I can find a store that carries the proper spec'd bleeder screws for my front calipers.
What I do know is the rim is 17in diameter and the width from the outer-edge lip to lip is 11in.

The NT555s definitely look a tad wider than the Sumitomo HTRZs I had on before. Don't buy those btw, they last a good while, but they don't hook. They were ok, but my tires would spin for 2 seconds from a 1st-2nd gear WOT shift and spin a bit from 2nd-3rd. There was also a noticeable gap between the tire and the lip on the rim, made it look like the lip stuck out. If I can say anything good about those tires, with the center of the tread area bald (about 50% of total tread area) they got me through this last winter. They also were ok in the rain despite being bald in the centers, I never broke traction unless I wanted to. The NT555s are definitely much more sticky than the HTRZs, and they fit the rim better with no more protruding lip. Until I can afford to get Proxes R888s all the way around and to replace them more often, 555s are my new go-to tire.

Ya the nt555s seem like a good tire, so many people run them. And I have read that they are narrower than the sumitomos so that interesting that you thought they were wider. I guess we will find out!!

I haven't had a chance to bleed my brakes yet. So I have yet to get your numbers. I honestly don't know when I'll get around to it. I'm hoping tonight if my brother comes home from his dad's and I find something to hold the rear end up. I only have two jack stands and apparently no cinder blocks. My only days to get stuff done are Tuesday and Thursday (if I want daylight), naturally it's supposed to rain all week. I swear, I'm moving where it doesn't rain/snow when I finish school. If it's not raining when I get off work, I suppose I can just pop one of the wheels off and get the measurements. But these definitely look wider than the Sumis. Maybe they were talking about the NT555Rs being narrower. The Rs are narrower than the regular 555s by half an inch I believe.
