Can I lower my car like this?

So I have h&r super sport springs but I've been waiting to put them in because I have a big dent on my rear quarter panel. My friend that does work on my car insists that if I lower the car the dent will blow the tire out. But I was thinking, I've seen plenty of mustangs with wide wheels in the rear poking out further than the fender and they're lowered, wouldn't that kind of be the same thing? Here's some pictures.

Would it be safe to lower the car like this?

I don't see why not. You won't lower it past the fender anyways.

I don't see why it would matter to lower it either. The damage looks to be just cosmetic.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Also people that have lowered and fat tires that are close to the fender usually get their fenders rolled so they don't chew up the tires.

Why not get the fender fixed? No point in trying to make the car look better by lowering it if the fender is all chewed up. That's just my opinion

Those H&R super sports won't be a problem with cosmetic damage like that. Just make sure you get an alignment after you drop it. Previous owner of my car did not do this, so when I bought it I had to get an alignment and two new front tires that were only a few months old.

Sweet thanks for all the opinions! I'm just gonna lower it! I haven't fixed it yet because it's a LOT of money to get fixed lol. Most likely will be fixed next year.

get it fixed or roll your fender... pick one before putting in springs

if you go up a incline at an angle the fender will hit the tire and if its sharp it will cut.

from the 2nd picture down, i can see the lip inside the wheel well is bent outward/downward a bit. that is all i would be concerned with. H&R's sit pretty low, did you plan on keeping the spring isolators in or not?? either way, all i would do is worry about bending that lip up/in (think rolling the fenderwells) and carry on with the install.

How far is the fender pushed in?
It almost looks like the tire sticks out past the fender.

I planned on keeping the isolaters in, I have new prothane isolators. Would a fender roller bow that fender out? My buddy has one

It's pushed in far enough so that it intersects with the vertical plane of the tire. My friend insists that if I hit a bump it'll shred the tire because of that.

this should give you an idea of what you're looking at. i have no isolators in and the tires are 295/35r18's on 18x10's. if your friend has a roller i would recommend it, just for piece of mind if nothing more. its actually kind of hard to see but the tires are almost 'tucked'. you can see it a little better in my sig. picture.
