hey guys, I sure could use some help figuring what this clicken and clankin is in the front suspension. we changed out the ball joints with some new raybestos ones. both sides make the same noise so apparently we messed something up. the install I thought went pretty smooth, my buddy has the tools and all that cause he has changed a **** load of ball joints and never had this problem. I will post a short video. also, before the install the car never made any noise, I just felt like it was time for new ones. thanks

We bounced the car for a hour and can not figure it out. Its starting to tick me off. Lol. Both sides make the same noise and every thing was quiet before the ball joint install. I am going out now to unbolt the sway bar just to eliminate that.

I just drove it up on a couple blocks of wood. then I started to pump the jack with one hand and hold my phone for another video in the other. each small pump of the jack you can hear the noise pretty easy. I also put my hand on fricken on the suspension parts and still can't pin point it.

did you check the tightness on your sway bar bolts? i had a noise like this in my 98 and i couldnt figure it out for the life of me and it turned out to be 1 loose bolts where the sway bar bolted to the frame

yea I actually checked all that again a couple hours ago. the noise sounds like it's right behind the wheel. I am wondering if I got 2 defective ball joints, I doubt it though. I also forgot to mention that we put on new wheel hubs too. anything is possible but I wouldn't think they would make that kind of noise.

Can you get a hold of a mechanic's stethoscope? You can listen to various areas, it will help narrow down exactly where the noise is coming from. You will hear it louder through the stethoscope as you get closer to the source. You can also spray WD-40 on the control arm bushings, if the noise goes away, you need new bushings. I once worked on 2008 F150 with an identical noise, after replacing ball joints (customer request) the noise was still there, it oddly turned out to be the wheel bearings.

we already tried the wd40 trick, we pretty much sprayed everything and the noise never changed a tone. my buddy has the stethoscope and the plan is for me to drive it back to house on sunday to rip it back apart. I was hoping to figure it out before then so I don't have to drive it like that.
