Wooohoooo!!! now only if it had some wider rims... either way take down that 1LE
It is a down right known winner for FS. I don't think other cars, at least mustangs, have a chance. Boss is the pinnacle of solid axle mustangs.

The 1LE was very fast and I'm not taking anything away from David, who's a great guy and a great driver. But if you look carefully at the results, you'll notice that Burdette coned away a repeat championship, and he knew it too :whackylol:

As close as FS is at nats, the few tenths faster a Boss 302 is than a regular 5.0 might make all the difference. I just wish the SCCA had made up their minds about the Boss two years ago, as I purposely didn't buy one because of its classing

In theory the Boss should be faster than that, I think. The wheels are 9.5" compared to 9" for GT which should provide better tire support and more contact patch. The car revs higher and comes with a T2R rather than a T2 differential (I am not 100% sure here) for track pack which means it can utilize the 3.73 gearing much better and no need to oversize the tires. Plus it is stiffer than 5.0 and has better control arm bushings and ball joints.
SCCA's classing philosophy clueless at best. Bunch of us in NER region were discussing or rather venting out how frustrating this classing and pax are and we decided that we should all run in HS in 2015 in Fiesta ST or Golf GTI. The worst part, I feel, is that SCCA puts one/two car models in each class which is significantly better than the others and if you use those car you have tremendous advantage over others. For example Focus ST and now MazdaSpeed 3 in GS, Fiesta and GTI in HS, Boss 302 in FS, Corvettes in AS and blah blah blah. I have started to think this whole classing thing may be ill intended and cliquy.

So I think I can understand your frustration.

No factory Mustang comes with the T2R... the Boss 302 and the Track Pack GT both have the Torsen T2.

The Boss 302R and Boss 302S racecars through Ford Racing come with T2R's but not the street going Boss 302

That's good to know. I was not sure as I said before.

The Focus ST in GS is a definite overdog, especially in PAX classes. My local club president, who normally runs an S2K in STR, has a Fiesta ST as a DD, and he may bring it out in HS just to dominate PAX one day.

Want an overdog car? The turbocharged Mazdaspeed Miata is in ES with regular, n/a NA and NB Miatas. It has 40 more HP and 40 more TQ, which is a lot when your total power is 1xx. It also gets wider wheels and almost double the spring rate. They only made about 5000 of them, but it's one of the cars on my codriver's shopping list now that he's given up on STS. Its problem is that it has a really short second gear, think 48mph, so expect a lot of shifting.

Anyway, regarding the Boss, like Whiskey said about the diff. Also, they only get 9.5" wheels on the rear, the fronts are still 9". I novice instructed in one with Michelin PSS tires and got to make a single pass in the car, and while I didn't notice the power (24hp isn't a lot when you already have 400+, especially on a 35sec course), I did notice the stiffer springs, and the balance is really good.

Still don't see them totally dominating though. Boardkat put fancy shocks on his car, I wonder if that would be enough to make up most of the difference. If it's really that much faster, there's always the S550. But damn, they don't make one in GHIG yet :p John Ames is the only national guy I know who's actually placed an order, guess I'm gonna have to keep tabs on his results now :whackylol:

One thing I wish they'd do is fix the F Street PAX. Our national champion finished about 400th at nationals this year, and I was around 600th two seconds back. Last year, I was three seconds back in F Stock, and paxed about 400th, with the winner at a more reasonable 150th. Our heavy pigs pay a bigger penalty giving up the Crack than the lighter cars do apparently.

Recently, I asked our local SEB member about the wonky classing, and his response was, um, "I have no idea." Gonna try to ask our local SAC member next, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Alittle off topic of the new Boss but as stated before this happens in a lot of classes it seems. always a car the dominates or a car grouped in with lesser power.

Speaking with Sam Strano about setting up my mustang he said it will be best suited in ESP....

While I did do research before I bought and most said yes the new edge is out dated and slow and not too competitive. I bought won anyone because I like the car and chassis.

Boss002 just sold his pretty much fully prepped stang for a Camaro for the extra power. Stock engine is just not enough. but the update/backdate helps if you want to drop the coin on a Coyote.

Looking at my times right now I might be better off bolting on SFC's
and leaving the rear axle alone and going into STU.

I know there are so many cars its hard to divide them up but it seems there should be a better power divide among classes

The power difference should not matter here. But I really liked the suspension tuning of a bone stock boss I co-drove in one local event compared to my previous experience with a 5.0 with brembo package.

Talking about shocks, does koni make double adjustable for mustangs? I could not find any online! Who sells those?

Is that the Koni Yellows?

For the sense of seeing the blue oval in the winning circle for FS, I love the new rule change.
For the sense that I drive in FS, I really am not ready to be beat by a car of that ability.

Koni does indeed sell double adjustable dampers for the S197 chassis but they are custom order pieces and pricey.

Ask Sam Strano, that's who I'm getting mine from :D

You guys may want to look at Viking double adjustable shocks that are due to come out soon. Viking is coming on strong as of late.

Anyone driven a boss vs a.track pack?

Looks like.im adding boss springs to my list with koni shocks for nect year
Yes. Boss seems to have better turn in and a little less roll. But if you're gonna go up a class or two, don't bother with Boss springs, there isn't THAT much difference. Aftermarket makes much better stuff than the OEM Boss for autox work.

BTW if you can wait a few months, my Koni singles are going up for sale ;)
