Started to build up my struts with BMR lowering springs and when I test fit the mount to the strut the threaded part of the rod doesn't come through the mount. It looks to be about 2" short. Does anyone know what's up with this?
The struts are STR-T 8750-1108

if im understanding right, you need to compress the spring so that the threads of the strut will come through enough to put the strut mount on.
kinda like this

a pic might help me to understand but maybe someone who understands what you mean will chime in

You are using 2011-14 GT style struts. They won't work with the GT500 mounts, as they have a smaller inner diameter. You'll either need a) to reuse the stock strut mounts or b) use 05-10 GT struts. I recommend b. When you look at the stock mounts next to the GT500s, the stock ones are a joke.

Yes, you could c) get Caster Camber plates to work with those struts, but I'm running the GT500 mounts on Koni Yellows in my car, and have no problems at all.

I just googled it and ended up on mustang evolution, the mounts won't work. Not sure what will. This stuff was to be installed between Xmas and New years. I'm sad

what cc plates

^The knowledge has arrived haha.

that sucks bro. marc spelled out your options. that said, i have no complaints with my maximum motorsport caster camber plates

If you are going to reuse the stock mounts, be very careful with them taking them off the stock struts. They will come apart and they will throw ball bearings across the shop flirt where they will never be seen again.

i had them on my 2007 gt for over a year and also had no complaints. some people say they are not the best quality but its up to you. id look for some reviews on forums. just remember, nobody makes a post about good experiences, only the negative, so thats all your going to see

Marc is right. You have 11-up Struts.

To use the GT500 strut mounts you must use a 05-10 strut, which is what I'm doing. When you do this you also get an extra 1/4-1/2" drop in the front.

You can reuse your stock mounts and as marc said, be very careful when disassembling. I was and still managed to lose a few bearings.

You can either get 11-up CC plates, reuse your stock mounts, or order new stock mounts which are very cheap. If you order them tomorrow they'd probably arrive monday. Here is a link and Part number.
MOUNT BRACKET, RIGHT for 2011 Ford Mustang|BR3Z-18183-D

BR3Z18183D is your part number. Both sides are the same P/N.

OR

Send those struts back and buy 05-10 struts.

I ordered the J&M's from Late model resto, I'm keeping the original parts assembled and with the MM I would need the bottom off my old mount. The J&M has it! I have the rear to do, springs, shocks +BMR LCA with relo brackets, UCA with mount, Panhard and I can tear down the front. I'm in Michigan so it's not like the cars going anywhere, just lacking any kind of patience.

sweet! youll like the car so much with the stuff you have planned. congrats

Sounds like a good setup. Sounds very familiar...except I have BBR Billet lcas. lol

Just double checking. You bought an adjustable panhard and UCA right? I've seen some idiots on the facebook group lately buying lowering springs and then buying non-adjustable UCA's and wondering why they can't get the pinion angle set.
