i have a 2013 boss 302.

How hard can i launch for drag racing safely ? ive heard about torsen diff brakes when launched in drag racing... so to keep on safe side i wanna know how hard i can launch and can i what is the tire grip that the torsen can withstand.

Thanks,

It won't. Trade me rear ends ;)

In all seriousness, the torsen is NOT for drag racing. It will break.

The only way that you can safely launch at the strip is by easing into it. You might be able to get 100 hard launches or it may grenade on the first try. It is a roll of the dye.

So, really, the two safest options are not drag racing. Orrrr trading me rear ends hahaha

"I've" seen more clutch type LSD diff's break than torsens so far, but torsens do break as well..

Been racing mine with the OEM torsen for couple years, cutting 1.5 60's and it hasn't broken yet. keyword YET..

That wouldn't happen to be because there's not nearly as many with Torsen's drag racing would it? lol

My post was based on what i've seen locally at the track. But they both break, there's no questioning that.

They do for sure. That's my main concern when I go race on occasion. My 3.73's already whine like mad. I just know I'm gonna dump the clutch one time and not go. lol

This question has been asked several times. It goes both ways. If a Shelby GT500 comes from the factory with one, a 662hp beast, then I'm sure they can withstand abuse to reasonable levels. Just don't go out beating the **** out of your car and expect it to stay together forever.

so is it true that shelby gt500 all come with torsen diffs ?

or there are certain type ? models ?

If thats correct then i dont think semi slicks or an extreme perf summer tires would hurt it while dumping with 2000 rpm dont you think so ?

wow that sounds good , appearantly u have a torsen with drag radials and no problem yet? ... how hard is 1.5 sec in 60 ft ?

Do u lift the rpm at launch ?

Im new to drag racing . i usually do sum street racing though.

Slip the clutch. It'll last. If you dump it, it will not.

Only the added performance pack comes with the torsen with the GT500s

1.5 sixty foot is damn near neck breaking, that is pretty damn hard.

What would someone need to do to bullet proof the 8.8 for street/strip duty?

You gotta think though Tek, that the GT500 from the factory doesn't hook on the street if you dump the clutch. So keeping that in mind, the GT500 Torsen equipped cars on the street are just gonna spin and not shock-load the Torsen unit as it would at the strip on stickies.
