So I'll be installing my intercooler Paxton novi 1000 here in a couple weeks. I previously install 4.10s but I was just curious if that'll be too much gear. Maybe running a 28" tall slick will compensate for the 4.10s instead of having 3.73s.

Using a 97% loaded diameter on a true 28" slick and CliffyK's calculator I get 118 mph at 6000 rpm for 4.10 gears.

Edit: I have a typo in the original post. I used 97% loaded diameter not 95%. I just fixed it.

I might switch them out for 3.73s when I build my rear end completely. I imagine I'll be rebuilding it anyways cause I'm not to confident in it holding the power.

First put the blower on and see what kind of power the car makes. I've had 4.10's N/A and blown. Went from 101mph to 112mph. I use a 26" drag radial and max out 4th gear at the track. Right around 6300-6400rpm when I let off. If the car makes 360rwhp or less then you can stick with a 26" tire. If it makes a bit more then step up to a 27". You really don't need a 28" tire with the 4.10's unless you are pushing well over 400rwhp.

what rims are y'all running with your 28" tires and what offsets? I am looking into some 28" with slicks for our 2002 and want the tires nice and under the wheelwell

thanks...that seems to be the backspacing that'll keep'em under the wheelwheel...have you had issues with them hitting the quadshock? I am thinking of dumping mine anyways as I installed tubular LCA's after the rearend rebuild. I know some have gone with 5.5" backspacing but I haven't liked the look of those from what I've seen

Im also running a 15x10 w/ 6.5 bs. The typical size backspacing for stangs.
Have you dyno'd your car yet? It would help alot to know how much power you're putting down and at what rpm. For instance i rev my car to 7k with 410s and 26" slicks and hit about 6400-6500 through the traps. So for me 26" tires w/ 410s are perfect, but if you rev lower they may not be for you.

I use a 15x8 with 5.5 backspacing. You also want to run the smallest wheel/tire possible as long as the car hooks. Most cars don't need a 15x10.
