my foxes have always ran cool as hell on a taurus fan on low. 110 degree heat

 

If you're always low on coolant and there isn't any on the ground, it's getting into the combustion chamber either through and intake gasket or a head gasket.

i wouldnt blame the 5.0 itself for anything, just old age/mileage catching up to it. after i got my 88, i had to install a new fan clutch and radiator to keep it running at 180*.

if youre low on coolant, check for a leak. maybe the water pump didnt seal completely, or your have a head gasket going on you. any smoke out the exhaust?

 

yeah sometimes some black smoke when i sink the gas pedal. I might sell it tho but i hate to see it go. Its all BONE STOCK. havent done any mods or touched the engne. I guess its just the age. I drive my 01 GT as a daily driver cuz the 5.0 is putting a hole in my bak account.

 

Black smoke is excess fuel and/or carbon build-up. If you don't floor it very often you will see a puff of black when you do floor it sometimes. If you beat on it often and still get the smoke then it's running rich.
