So I'm thinking of doing an A/C Delete on the Mustang. It is my DD, however, but I've used the A/C only a few times this summer (Only been on days of 100+ degrees and sitting in traffic). Now for the questions I have...

1. By deleting my A/C, does that mean that just the A/C is gone, or am I also ditching my heater and defroster?

2. What exactly is being removed when I do the delete? Just the A/C compressor?

3. I won't need a new belt if mine is fine right?

Thanks guys.

The a/c compressor is on when you have it set to Defrost... it will still blow air
out the defrost vents though... But it may just fog up your windshield if you
delete the a/c...

Ok. That's fine. I know my car's windows love to fog up during the winter, but it goes away after awhile. Maybe I'll just have to get up earlier in the mornings before school if I do it.

That pulley bolts in the same place as the compresser, or you can run a short belt, look in my garage and you can see the short belt !

So you don't even have the A/C delete bracket and pulley? I saw the picture in your garage, but what belt was that?

Its a 70.5in belt, also the smooth factory tensioner pulley was replaced with a ribbed pulley!
Would doing it that way make a difference or would it even matter?

I had the A/C Delete pulley but I wanted to get rid of all the extra pulleys and have a cleaner look and less drag on the engine so I did the short belt and removed three pulleys taking up space !
So it would free up drag then? The only reason I ask is that I looked on NAPA's website and all the belts I found were about $25 and the idler pulley was $25 as well so I could save $10 and keep my belt now (assuming it has no signs of wear or damage), and getting the A/C Delete from CJ Pony...

Alternator pulley is stock, give me some time and I will get you the Auto Zone part numbers, this way you can decide which route you want to go with !
Ya that would be great bro. NAPA seemed to damn over priced...

NAPA can blow me... everytime i go in there they act like dick heads.
thats kool the shorter belt, deff would b less drag on the engine.

but is that all ur ripping out? just the compressor? got any "before" pics?

Isn't that the same pulley though that is already on the car? Or similar?

EDIT: The only reason I ask is cuz I would just reuse that pulley, and pay the $29+tax for the belt, and have an A/C delete for about $8 cheaper still!

Oh chit your right, its been a long time since I did the mod 3+years I completely forgot, yes you just need to swap over the one ribbed pulley already on the engine onto the tensioner, you do need a large thin washer to go between the ribbed pulley and the tensioner because they will rub (see pic) , if you use a washer that is to fat you will have to also put a washer between the engine and the tensioner, thats what I had to do untill I could find a washer that was thinner !
