Amazing....... Flame is something really hard to capture.

do you recall where you locked your focal point in those shots? Also, what metering mode are you using.

That part of the zoo is a really bad spot for lighting. They have tungsten lights, with hazed skylights. Custom white balance is the only way to shoot in there.

3rd one down from top is best one in the bunch. Cause he looked up and his eyes became visible instead of being caught in shadows.
