so picked myself up a used v3 kit non intercooled that's fairly new under 10k on it
and im new to the force inducted world so had some questions

running everything the kit came with my goal is to keep it safe for a daily driver like 7lbs of boost and around 350-370 rwhp
my supporting mods are a 70mm t/b ,c&l plenum, x pipe, and straight through mufflers

my questions
would it benefit me enough to go get a 75/80mm t/b?

the kit came with everything but a fuel pump where and what fuel pump should I get running 35lb injectors

can I run a blow through setup or different blow off valve non intercooled?(I love the sound of a fat sneeze and the bosche one seems cheap)

and my biggest question is its leaking oil through the vented plug is that normal it does it when sitting on its side or if I hold it upside down?
I took it out and noticed that theres two of the small copper washers is that how its suppost to be? there only 1 copper washer on the dipstick one

35#'s isn't too big. But for a fuel pump that small, you can go with an SVT focus fuel pump or something alone those lines as a 255 lph.

Non intercooled just go with a draw thru and keep it sealed.

Tb is fine. Svt focus pump is drop in. Can also use a KMS 340lph pump or KB bap. You will need to keep it draw thru. Do you already have the Bosch bypass? If not ive got one.

#5 ·
yes already got the bosch bypass its all setup already

other things that I need to pick up

anyone know what size metal pipe I can use for the radiatior hose mod?
and what size rubber line and how much of it do I need to run the iac and other line down to the pipe that goes into the fenderwell?

I plan on taking my svt focus pump out and replacing it. Ill sell you it cheap here in a few weeks if you want.

hurry up and do it haha ive got a boner to get this thing running already
but yeah I plan on doing the install at the end of may if you will have it by then gonna be in and out of the field for the next 2-3 weeks

anyone got any input on the leaking vent plug
also anyone know the size hose I need to run the iac and pcv valve hose down to the plastic pipe that leads to the fenderwell
and the size of the metal pipe needed for the radiator hose mod

Is it leaking through the drain hose? I have a self contained unit too, and it did that before i put it on. No problems since.

Go with bigger injectors. 39s or 42s are most common around here.

I went with the kurgan 340lph and i havent had any problems. Its really easy to mod the basket.

It required modification though right while the svt focus one just pops right in
im only running 35lb injectors so the kurgan will just go to waste I figured.
maybe if I end up building my motor and running more boost and bigger injectors down the line

39s will take you close to 500. 35s should get you over 400. An svt focus pump is hit or miss. Some max at 380 and others at 440.

I ran that same setup but with an aftercooler to 420rwhp and didnt peg my focus pump or injectors... The injectors are RC Injection 370cc fuel injectors and they are nice injectors. For a stock motor with bolt ons and 10lbs of boost or less they will work just fine..

That is absolutely NORMAL. The unit ships with a non-vented plug to keep it from leaking. Once installed you MUST install the vented plug or damage will occur due to the expansion of fluid internal to the unit.

Once you get it installed the very next step would be to drain and replace the oil in that unit as there is no telling how long it was since the last change. I believe off the top of my head it is recomended to change it at 2500miles.

I just last week removed my v3 head unit to swap pulleys and had a bit of oil come out of the vent plug.

For the pump go with a 340lph pump like the divisionX or the Kurgan. both will supply enough fuel without a BAP.

IMHO if you are going through the trouble of installing the SC bite the bullet put on a FMIC. You will likely end up doing it eventually anyway and it is overal safer with the cooler intake temps.

The throttle body is not going to buy you a tremendous amount of power. I run a 70mm on mine. You would be better to invest that money in an intercooler and or bump up to 60# injectors so there is NO concern for fuel.

the stock 3.6" pulley on a v3 will get you 10-11# at 6200rpm or more assuming you plumped it up well and have no leaks via PCV, IAC, etc and run a power pipe.

Read through my thread in my signature...took lots of pictures including how to make your own power pipe.

Good luck.

I went with a AEM pump from sharkbait and Im yet to install but it should support a god bit of power. As for install, Just gotta solder two wires together (thats sketchy.. open flame next to the gas tank sounds like an issue) and thats it!

#23 ·
I use a soldering gun. No flame. Plus, you shouldnt be soldering anything near the tank. Its most likely that you need to solder a new connector to the pump which i would suggest doing it somewhere else

#24 ·
I didnt mean to say soldering was my worry lol i Just re read that, Its the heat shrink at the end im worried about

going for a wideband, boost, and oil pressure
anyone head anything about the glowshift packaged
all 3 of those and pod for 318 doesn't seem bad
