Alright guys Im not really on top of my stuff for engines so here is my plan. I have one more year of college and then my dad and I are thinking about building a factory five kit car. I was gunna do the roadster and put a big 427 in it but the 33 coupe looks a lot cooler. The only down fall on the coupe is the biggest engine you can fit in there is a 4.6l. The cars weight pretty much nothing. Fully built they way around 2400lbs. I was wondering if we were gunna build a 4.6l engine to make the most horse power how would we do it. I heard people trying to put a roots charger on them but there is no place for an intercool bcs is such a small area. I was thinking stroke the block to a 5.4l ported heads and valves stage 2 or 3 cam. hahah i don't really know more about engines.

I could swear that I just saw on Spike TV's powerblock not too long ago that they are putting the new 5.0 coyote motor in the coupe. That's freakin badass!!!!

Oh, and the 5.4 is a tall deck 4.6. You can't make a 5.4 out of a 4.6

Yeah, I saw that episode too. Very cool!

MightyStang, does it need to stay N/A? I mean, with enough time, skill and $$ you can make a turbo or sc setup work. At that point the HP is really only limited by your wallet.

Amen to that. That's why I have blue collar hp.

Turbo without intercooler? You could do a rear mount one.
Drop a 4v into it, with just some bolt ons you could easily reach 300 rwhp. Heads, cams and you could push quite a bit of power.

If you're spending that kind of money to do the Factory Five car, use the Coyote motor, the one from the new mustang. 412 hp at the crank... TO START WITH. Nuff said.

5.3 boss block n tfs heads n custom cam! Should make some decent power

+1...the only thing I don't like about the new boss block is the extra weight it brings to the table. I just don't know if the power gain from the boss block would benefit enough to override the weights savings compared to an aluminum block. The lighter the better when it comes to handling, no matter how much power you have. TFS heads, 3V heads, or 4V heads and the right CR should get you a pretty good setup NA.

However, without the boss block you're still gonna have valve shrouding from the cylinder wall with 2V heads (less with TFS heads, not sure on 3 or 4 valve). This is always going to limit NA power which is why I think these motors respond to boost so well. I would still go boosted if I had to do it all over again.

Well i don't have a **** ton of money. My dad and I are gunna split it so its gunna be around 25k a piece but i would rather build a badass car like that rather then buy a new boss/gt350 or any thing in the new generation. Just not a fan of them. Rather have old school then new school. But the new boss engine would be pretty badass to have that.

if u wanna stay n/a MMR offers high compression 4.6 shortblocks, they also offer low compression for boost (what im getting next week). this is all about what u want, a street car that has good power, you could do a cam'd 4.6 and call it a day, but it u want a badass street car, go like procharger, where u dont HAVE TO run an innercooler.

my opinion tho, terminator engine.

But with the Coyote comes the new wiring harness and computer, extra $$$.

You can find wrecked Mustangs in the junk yards all day long with wiring harnesses and computers.

Call MMR, they have a 750 HP rated forged block stroker 4.75 block, put the Trick Flow top end kit on that block with 11:1 compression and you'll have a bad ass roadster pushing about 340 at wheels NA.

Add a 100 shot of nitrous and your good to go if you can get some traction with that roadster.

That coupe is ****in' awesome:drool

Are you sure a 4.6 is the only thing that'll fit in there? It looks like its got some decent room:dunno

ok, got lost half way thru this thing. if a 4.6 is biggest engine you can stuff into it, then why not big block it? a c-headed 4v is physically larger than a big block. a big bore small block would fit just fine.

as for the difference in a boss block and power, there is so much more gains with the larger bore to make up any difference in weight. even if its just a mild mild built big bore.

are you reading my mind Mike?

bottom line if a 4.6 fits, pretty much anything fits.

build yourself a 351w based stroker & you'll be all set.

j/k

as I was reading thru the thread I was thinking "a 4.6 is pretty freaking big physically" to be saying it the biggest motor you can if is kinda strange.

then I came to your post & was like wtf, you took the words right out of my mouth.

sorry.... i ment the 4.6 bolts right up to the engine mounts so i was just gunna use that. I looked on american muscle and they had the boss 302 and then the coyote 5.0l but the boss was 3k more. I was thinking 350 to 425 for hp wise.

5.0 Coyote. 412hp in a box
