I have a 91 vert just rebuilt motor have explorer top end and gt 40 heads e cam throttle body mass air the normal. It runs good great throttle response but when driving at wot it does not want to pull at all. The timing, fuel preasure and all others are set right. I am at a lose and suggestions? It is an aod car.

You mention it has great throttle response, but doesn't pull.... That seems to be a contradiction to me.

You mentioned not pulling while driving at WOT. Are you doing highway speeds already? The AOD may be in OD and you're going to fast for it to downshift.

Give us some more details and we can help narrow this down.

Sorry I was not clear on that. I meant in park or even while driving as soon as I hit throttle it responds well. It doesn't matter what speed I am at. For example I drive it in first gear pull it up to 2700 rpm then go wot it climbs slowly through rpm. If I am in first gear at any rpm blip the throttle it will spin tires any time I stay in it it just really pulls slow through rpms.

Was your cam degreed in when the engine was put togather? What gears are in the rear end? What injector size are you running? It may be lean at WOT with the new parts.

The torque convertor may have taken a dump. How did it run before the rebuild?

As far as the TV cable goes, yes, it controls shift points and line pressure. it may or may not be the problem. You can adjust the TV cable at home but to do it correctly requires hooking a gauge up the the ports on the side of the trans to check line pressure. Get that wrong and the trans can shift too early, too late, not at all, or it can burn up.

Now as far as the engine goes, whats been suggested is a good start. The cam may be a bit off. And since you replaced the throttle body the base idle is probably a bit off. And doublecheck the TPS signal. Check codes, clear, then check them again.
