I've made a descision... the last thing i'll be doing to my car is brakes, tints and lowering springs.

theres really no point in throwing everything i wanted into this car. by the time im done i'll be looking at 10k in a car that wont be worth to much more then that when its done.
so im saving my money for a GT or cobra maybe in the future. like next year.
i figured i'll have about 3-4K saved up...when i do sell my car im keeping the rims though. for my next stang
so sadly im not going through with any future modifitcations on the car.

i really want a car with nice leather interior, its already running low 14s and the sound of a v6 can never IMO compare to a GT or COBRA hauling ass. a twin turboed v6 would be SOO nice, i'd actually prefer it over a s/c GT but not in this car.

ive looked at prices i can find a used 2000-2001 for about 12k now..and 03-04 GT's are 13k-14k but by next year at the end of the summer it'll drop for sure. i can probably sell my car for 7k w/the old rims, new brakes, and exhaust

not to mention pretty much every mod you get on a v8 will put out more then if it were on a v6

like long tubes..on a v6 you wont see as much hp gains as if the v8 had them

but all you guys keeping you v6 keep doing your thing.

i eventually still wana buy a v6 in the far future and TT it!

i woudlnt have built a 6 if i could afford a v8. most of the guys with built 6's did it because it is cheaper than an 8, and you can make a lightweight 500rwhp v6 run 10s in the 1/4 cheap

i kno,...but im already set on the GT
the sound, performance everythin
plus my car as lil things about it i dont like

i like the fact if i had a v6 beating v8's knowning im driving a v6 but idk..

i could always save, sell my car then buy an 04 v6 for 8k and put 4k in mods...save gas..and insurance.
damm man idk

the thing with my car is this

it used to be white, i had it painted after i got my body kit taken off and its not the best paint job, and my front bumper isnt put on like its suppose to be, had something rip off that stayed on the front bumper of the body kit and it just doesnt fit right.. also any scratch i get...its automatically white

idk now im really thinking about getting a 2004 v6 and just starting all over. get the right exhaust set up, and the right everything and have a good front bumper and all that...

if you wanted to build a fast v6 cheap, buy a fox body v6 and drop in a 4.2L stroked, forged 11psi procharger motor making 450-500rwp and run 10s in the quarter on a street application. you would need a lot like the 8.8" rear, 31 spline axles, drag suspension, sticky tires, built transmission......

or just buy a cobra and up the boost and run 10s. the cobra has the built parts factory, and you can't beat that reliability. plus, that is the body style you like.

i would not get a gt from a v6, but i would step up to a cobra

#12 ·
i cant stand the way the fox bodies look..srry to anyone who has it but i just dont like it at all, i dont know what ford was thinking

the only v6 i'll get is a 99-04, new ones i dont want, and the 98-96...no comment.

i think im gonna settle for a 2001 cobra if i can..or and 02 anything for 13 or 14k

#13 ·
i wouldnt get a cobra unless it was 96-98 or 03-04

i love the fox bodies because they are so light weight- they look good to me, but get the car that makes you happy. i would not buy a car solely for how it looks if you are going to mod it. why buy a 99-01 cobra when the 03-04 is a much better platform?

#14 ·
the 03-04 are my fav, but aint no way im fiinding one for $13k or $14k

i know looks shouldnt matter but i just really like the 99-04 body style

plus the 99-01 cobra i'll have plenty of hp to work with

i dont want a 10 car really, i want a 11 sec streetable car whether its high or low

#15 ·
99-01 is not s/c, neither is the 96-98, but the 96-98 is a better motor inside... i would prefer the 96-98, and i like that sn95 style equally as i like the new edge 99-04

#16 ·
i know its not s/c, kinda makes me like it more.
if i got the 03-04 id just rip the s/c out anyway..

its not like the 99-01 motors are bad either. idk im gonna look into insurance,i'll be 18, if its really high still, then i might get an 04 v6 and just throw full bolt ons, stage 3 everything once i get ith with the 4k

the 99-01 cobra is poor construction and have had many problems.

Code:
The screw up was that that the 99 was not making the reported 320HP. Most of those 99's were fixed free of charge. However if you own a 99 you shouold have it checked out by Ford. Ford screwed up so bad on the 99 with HP claims that they did not have time to fix it for the 00 model thats why the Cobra did not come out in 00 it came back out in 01 with the all the HP issues corrected from the factory. It was some minor stuff. I think the they worked the exhaust and some other breathing things to get the car to the claimed 320hp at the crank. As far as your choice it all depends on what you are looking to do. IF your heavy into str8 line performance go with the 96-98. They have the solid rear. Saves you the trouble of having to covert the New Edge. If its a daily driver or you are looking to autocross or somthing type of racing that involes lefts and rights then you can't beat the IRS. Although it is a little heavier unsrpung weight is reduced with IRS and thats what counts anyway. Either car is a great car because it is a Cobra. I say its WIN WIN for you. Good Luck.

#18 ·
so then the 01 is fine.. except the rear

chances are with the insurance i wont get a v8, if its double mine now, then im just getting an 04 v6 and modding that beast
bolt ons, cam, and heads i'll see close to 300hp but if i get stage 3 everything, and full bolt ons, then i know i'll see 300hp or more. i might be happy with that and not even get s/c or turbo

its wont be 11 second car but it'll sure as hell be fast

actually i really dont feeel like goin with the v8
the insurance, and gas is gonna go up by the time i get it, and just everything idk..

with the v6 i'll have a badass v6 that'll eat GT's and i can say, "what is that you ask?"
"lol oh yea, it is a v6"

#22 ·
plus lots of ppl mod out GT's and cobras. a fast v6 mustang isnt as popular

**** that im just selling my car and getting an 04 v6 :D
then throwing long tubes, full exhaust, a good one this time, h pipe everything that'll bolt to the long tubes, but i just want flowmasters, then everything i sed before to make it badass

#23 ·
why sell your car and buy the same thing? cant you fix the minor body work on yours? my car was wrecked before i bought it and the front end is not perfect and the rear qaurter by taillight has a dent, but it doesnt bother me.

#24 ·
i'll take pic to show you what im talking about
i just dont wanna have to worry about it, plus i really want leather interior, it looks nicer.
plus i want my car to look NICE every inch, if not that one inch will bother me

#26 ·
its red, and im sure you've pushed your car a few times

i want a black car. and since its a v6 im gunna look for about 30k or less miles
plus shipping wont be cheap at all, and im talking about in a year or so
