Anyone know the stats on the 2007 Cobalt SS my friend has one and we've been racing around. Both of our cars are basically stock at the moment, but I feel like he has like 100 more WHP although i know there about like 220 + im not entirely sure, but I was curious if anyone knew much about them because there pretty damn fast.

I believe 2007 was the year before they started putting turbos on those stock. So if I am correct it's not as fast as the 2008+. Not sure what you're driving. If you're in a v6 it'd be close but i would say the cobalt has you If you're driving a v8 you should have the supercharged version. The newer turbo'd ones will give you some trouble

Is he stock? The supercharged ones in stock form should be no problem for a stock 3V. They can be quick though. There is one around here with a stage 3 and a small shot of nitrous. It's one of the quicker cars in the tuner crowed around here.

They make a Cobalt SS that is non supercharged and the 08+ are turbo'd now and alot quicker....from what has been stated though sounds like your friends has the SS/SC.

With a GM stage 2 kit on them they run pretty decent....if your stock, he will give you a run for your money if you roll race him. If he knows how to drive, you could lose.

From a dig you should have him...

Up here her Cobalt should run a 16, gotta love altitude! + she cant drive for ****! Hers is the supercharged version.

LOL! Got to love a girl running her mouth about her 14 second econobox. I would have talked so much **** after that beating I guarantee she would cry and all her friends would hate me.
I talked soo much ****! she hates me! I said "b*tch there is no replacment for displacement, take your americanized rice burner and drive it off a cliff, now pay up!"

damn yea i beat him from a dig but not from a roll he beat me by like 1 car length then again I didnt put any of my mods on my car yet so thats most likely why but were gonna race again this weekend after i put my 4.10's in, cold air intake, and headers. And yea he has the 2007 SS/SC.

lol their are a couple running around here that are gonna be insane quick after they are done being built...one is an ls cobalt with a full motor build and a 62 trim turbo, gutted and weighs about nothing. There other is an 06 SS/SC, it has a fully built motor with ported blower and it should run out pretty well. I have some build pics from them, I'll see if they are cool with me posting them. I'm guessing one to run in the 12s somewhere, and the other to be in the 11's and if it can hook possibly 10s.

Cobalt 2.0 Performance

scroll down to the bottom if you wanna see what you can do with a ss/sc and a basic socket set

Cobalt 2.0 Performance

what hahn does with a ss/sc LOL. step 1 was to replace the sc with a tc LOL.

I would have to look them up but thier is a kit to bolt a turbo right up to the ss/sc's and make it a twin charged setup. there is one guy I have heard of with that setup pushing 400+ to the wheels on stock internals

i'd def like to see one on slicks
How about an '06 Cobalt SS with a supercharger AND a turbocharger (ZZP kit) on slicks?:D

Video:

Build thread (not very detailed, but the only one I have seen):

Burning through 1st and 2nd on slicks to run 11.09@132mph is pretty impressive for a FWD 4-banger (they say it puts down 319hp and is capable of more). There's also an SMG twincharging kit being developed. I don't know of any confirmed power numbers for the SMG kit (they are running it at 7psi to develop a street tune before turning up the power), but they estimate it will be capable of 400+hp.

SMG prototype thread (worth a quick read, they are remote mounting the turbo at the rear of the car):

08+ are turbo'ed. 260 hp, 260 ft-lb torque, 5.8 0-60 (i think that's correct)
The others are supercharged and have 205 hp 200 ft-lb.

Both of them can easily be built. The Ecotec's are great 4 cylinder motors to build. Alot of drag racing organizations are putting limitations on them because the poor little Jap motors are having trouble holding their ground.

+1 for the USA.
