I thought I would post some pics and answer whatever questions I can for anyone thinking about doing the DoB Manifold and GT500 supercharger build. It took about 5 days to install and required lots of customizing. It is certainly not a plug and play kit, but if you have a built block, the possibilities for power are massive seeing as how any of the Whipple / Kenne Bell GT500 blowers will now fit on your 4.6.

Total Cost (not including tune and dyno): $3,600
Time to install: Give yourself 3 days and do lots of research first
Tools: All the standard tools plus a grinder

GT500 parts used: Blower / Elbow / TB / CAI / Fuel Rails(GT ones work too) / Heat Exchanger / 39# injectors (from 04 Cobra) / coolant pump

Most everything else came from the auto parts store with a few things purchased online.

Car made 459/455 at 12-15* lbs the first day of tuning, so i switched from a 2.75" pulley to a 3" and made 427/404 at 10-12* lbs the second day. After I get LT's and Cams I'll go back to the 2.75" and hopefully be back around 470whp at 10-12* lbs.

-and a shout out to DiMora, This would not have been possible without his help :usa

The Frankentensioner. It's 2 OEM tensioners stacked on top of each other with the stops ground off. This thing is a beast.

That thing sounds badass. Is there a parts list of everything you needed to buy, that you went off of to get started? I'm thinking about going this route, looks like more tooling time, and more interesting to me. And the part where it's about half price.

You can get a parts list from Squidd on AllFordMustangs forum. As far as the 2.75" pulley, the HP numbers are fine, but 15psi it too much for my daily driver lol. BUT, all but one other guy made 460hp average at only 11-12psi with stock exhaust. No idea why mine was different. With Cams and LTs I should be able to drop the restriction and add power:) If you really shop around, you can put this kit together for $3000. You save most your money by getting the GT500 parts as cheap as possible.

Also what was wrong with the 2.75 pulley. Aren't those numbers still safe?

Pretty cool. It was about time someone developed and actually manufactured the intake manifold after a ton of babbling about it for years. I don't like it's appearance but that's not a huge issue. As far as the power levels Broken, they are fine. I like to see boost at around 10-11 #s on a OEM motor.

Yeah, I saw the DoB thread dated back to 2010 lol. But the quality of the manifold really is top notch. And you are the FIRST person who said they didnt like the looks lol. But i ain't mad at ya.

Thanks guys. Looks like I have alot of reading and learning to do. A couple blowers just went up for sale on s197 so I might have to grab one.

Thanks! The pics make it look easy lol. But that thing was 5 days of 7am until midnight, everynight. One night we were up till 3am.

please edit the first post to make all the pictures on their own line rather than having them on the same line. makes reading your post and looking at the pictures a pain.

definitely a great product that filled a huge gap so people can use all those take off blowers.

I followed Lincolns build on AFM forum. If you have LTs and Cams and don't mind leaning it out alittle bit and adjusting the timing, you can make big power. My tuner made my timing and A/F extremely safe for me. I told him to after I made 15psi the first run lol. I believe another guy on AFM made 530hp on the same set up with LTs and ?? psi, but he is forged and was able to tune more aggressively.

Nice work looks and sounds great! What did it do on the dyno?

#16 ·
last dyno it did 427/404

i didnt even know you were doing this... how does it drive man? just haul ass now? my goal is only 450-475 at the wheels!
I LOVE driving a boosted car lol. It rides smooth and normal until i get on it. with my 4.10s it snaps you back hard. I love it!

Cobra 39# injectors, GT500 fuel rails and an Aeromotive 340 pump with wiring upgrade. Tuner said Im not near max on duty cycle.

I thought everyone should know that the reason it took stri8ted so long to do the install was that there were no instructions available at the time (first run).

There are now full instructions available. The kit takes most people 12-14hrs to install.

There are also complete kits available now with all the parts that are needed.

I know I have been doing a lot of reading up on this DOB set-up I have read most of the information several time's on the DOB forums I'm pretty sure this is the setup I want to go with now all I need to do save up the money !

considering the roush tvs 2300 is ~6500 bucks and gets you 550bhp, the DOB kit does look like a bargin even at the full 4k price tag. 550bhp with 18% parasitic loss is 451whp. i would LOVE a tvs 2300, but heck i can not justify the additional 2500 or more for the "same" power...granted the tvs will blow it out of the water if your motor can handle more power, which mine prob wont.
