I was just wondering what type of differences everything has. Turbos, superchargers, etc. And how they perform on both a v6 and v8. I know there isnt an exact hp gain number but if people have a setup let me know what you have, v8 or v6, and how much hp gain you got. Just looking to see some differences and see what looks best. Thanks.

That's an EXTREMELY broad statement...

Maybe start out with what you're working with and we can go from there?

I dont have anything yet, lol. I was just wanting to know what kind of numbers people are getting with forced induction. if someone has a v6 and has a turbo, i want to know what they got for hp gains and what they run at the track. Kind of just looking at different combinations to see what is out there. Im not asking for one person specifically to label every different type, just whatever you got I wanna see what it is I guess.

Sorry for not explaining correctly. If this is still too broad...sorry again, lol.

No matter what anyone tells you, just remember that a turbo system is the most efficiant. It uses exhaust gasses rather than scavange like a supercharger system. And nitrous (although the cheapest and quickest to install) is not for everyone, plane in simple. If you don't know what you are doing you can blow an intake sky high real quick. That's why it has gotten such a bad rep. Because of it's price and ease a lot of people go in head first without first learning about it.

Either system (nitrous, S/C, turbo) will make good power and a fast car. Just need to sit down and think about what the car is used for, what power levels you want, and how much $$$ you want to shell out. And than double that amount because it always seems like the rough estimate for cash flow is not even close to the final number.

Thanks for the info. Do you have a turbo on that Cobra? I'd love to get my hands on a black Cobra just like that, and would love it even more if it had your type of power. I basically want a street setup, just a daily driver but with a little kick to it. I don't plan to push it all the time, just want to be able to use it when I want to. Would a v6 with a turbo be sufficient for that? or does that seem to not be enough for some people. I think I'd have to test drive some different cars to see what I really want.

I've got a 99 cobra with a kennebell 2.1L being installed as I type... well, in the process of installation. KB claims to make 400rwhp on 5psi, and 426 with a larger mafs and chip at 6psi. I'm not saying that every car gets those numbers, infact kb has a disclaimer on 99-01 cobras, that timing could lose 30hp, but theyll swap out a pulley to get you that desired hp rating. They also claim to make more power on the 5psi kit than an 03/04 termi does stock with its 8psi eaton. A twin screw supercharger like the kb is claimed to be "more efficient" than the roots style eaton. I had a 99 v6 with ported heads and intakes and a camshaft, dual exhaust and gears, and I put a vortech on it, and got shitty numbers. Gooberhead bought it from me and is making close to 300rwhp on a stock engine (I believe it's stock). I was looking at a turbo for the cobra, and after reading everything, I decided on the KB because it provides boost throughout the powerband, where a centrifugal supercharger or a turbo needs a higher rpm to produce full boost. Although, turbo's are more efficient (like the guy above me stated) because they used exhaust gasses. There's a guy on the forum who has a kickass v6 that's turbo'd (but I hear he has lots of problems with it) I'd say if you go with anything, go for an 03/04 cobra. they're a bit more expensive, but the bottom ends are forged already, so there's no need to dig into them for a while. (I say a while, because no one is ever satisfied for long with their numbers) I probably made a mistake or 50 in this response, so feel free to correct me. So, that's my very long $0.02. enjoy reading it.

read my sig, its got my mods and power, i have a v8 btw. If your really looking for power a v8 is that way to go. AS far as power adders it really depends on what you want and hope much your willing to spend. turbo make more power but is less reliable than a supercharger.

less reliable? thats simply not true. they take millions of miles.

Thanks for the info. I like reading this kind of stuff, lets me know what people think and what not to get. I doubt I would be happy with a v6 again. I will have to save a lot more to get a cobra or gt but i think it will be worth the wait. Im in no position right now to buy one but i really really plan on it. I think I might even move to Florida in the near future and that would be a MUCH better place to get a nice car. Keep the info coming though because it was very interesting and is helping me think out different ideas. Thanks.

one option a lot of new edge guys don't know about is the eaton off of a termi cobra. most people say you can't do it, or it would take a lot of expensive custom fabrication work and wouldn't be worth it, but there is a company (tork tech) who makes a kit to adapt the blower to the 99-04 gt's.
If you are looking for around 400 rwhp that could be the supercharger for you. However, if you want to make more power than that, there are a lot of better options.

when you sit down and compare the S/C set ups to most of the turbo set ups there is not that much difference in the parts that could go bad. You don't have to run a boost controller on a turbo. Yes we have a wastegate and a blow off and a intercooler. but that is it other then the turbo itself you say manifolds well you have headers also. we don't throw belts nor do they slip and it is not pulling real hard on the crankshaft wearing out the front bearing and trust me on this when guys pull that belt real tight that's is whats happening I know I have done it and I have seen it on my own stuff. I have owned both a S/C car and a Turbo car and now that I have I would take the Turbo over the S/C any day. this could go on forever I understand its all in what you like or don't like.

Tru, I agree with you. There is no cut and dry answer. I was just stating my opinion on the subject. Hopefully the OP will be able to get a better idea of what he wants.

One note on blower, while the instant torque of a PD blower is nice when you get up there and can break the wheels loose effortlessly Id want to with a centri or turbo. Power is great but when you cant put it down you wont go anywhere.

make sure the block you have can take the amount of power you want. forge the motor. I have a procharger on mine but would go turbo in a sec if money permitted.

IMO doesnt matter v6 or v8 if you make the power you want. i have a 4.2L v6. 2 guys i know of make 611rwhp @16psi and another makes 660rwhp@17psi. i dont care how you split it that's impressive on a v6 3.8L stock block.

my goal is 500rwhp on 91oct pump gas with my procharger.
