since flowmasters are made wit aluminized steel, do they rust? if so, how quick?

it will take quite a while for them to rust thru. i live in michigan and my car saw winters before i got it, and after 5 years there's some surface rust on the mufflers but nothing more.

They were like $55 each new off of ebay. As far as if they are loud. Id say no if you keep your cats on. And if you have dumps after the muffler they are a little lound but not bad at all. When you run the tail pipes after them it really cuts the sound down. I had flowmaster original 40 on there with an off road h-pipe but i got sick of swapping back and forth to my stock h-pipe for smog. so when i got a new BBK x-pipe with cats it kill the sound i had, thats why i went with the super 10s.

so they are loud but not really? trying to decide which ones i want...and if i should get the whole catback....i may just get the mufflers and then get the tailpipes i want...if i do that do i have to weld them or just bolt on?

i got the flowmaster tail pipes after i got the mufflers. The tail pipes cost me $135 plus $12 shipping. I bolted them on but im going to have them welded in the next few months. but you will have to have the muffler hanger welded on unless you wanna use some cheap hangers from an auto parts store

when i first conected the mufflers with out tail pipes i thought the sound was just right ( for me that is ) but when i conected the tail pipes it really cut the sound down. But some people say that flowmasters are restrictive.....BUT not with the super 10s. you can see through them if you get the one that have the inlet and outlet off set. There nice, you would like them

ok thank you, and how much does it cost to weld them on? now that i think about it i may get the super 10 mufflers with 2.5" inlet and outlet and keep stock pipes but get bigger tips..would that be a goood idea?

and yea i just watched a vid on utube with somebody with super 10s and i loved the sound haha so i think i got my mind set on what ima get

I dont know how much it will cost to have them welded, i figure it cant cost that much if welding is all they have to do. But my friend has a welder and he helped me with the hangers but im going to take it to a muffler shop do have them weld the rest, because i may have to have some pipe bent as well to give it a real clean look. If it were me i would just get 2 1/2" pipe all the way back, its not that much more money like i said $135 for the tail pipes off ebay. but if you dont have the money do what ever you need to do, either way it will sound better then what you have

Or do dumps right after the mufflers that will save you so cash. Im not sure but i dont think i can run dumps in my state do to the fact that it would be hard for the smog station to put the sniffers in my tail pipes, i could be wrong but thats what some one told me once

just under stand that your going to need to add pipe when you cut your old mufflers off. The super 10 are half as long as any other muffler also when you cut the mufflers away from your tail pipes there wont be enough pipe to reconect to the muffler but its like that with any muffler unless you use the dumps or buy the new tail pipes or add some pipe. so a muffler shop may be needed for some of it. just do as much of the work your self as you can to cut cost down, then a shop can finish it off at a low cost

#21 ·
Yes. where the pipes from the mufflers conect to your stock h-pipe they need to be longer

#22 ·
no matter what muffler you go with some of your exhaust pipes will have to be added to or cut shorter, its just some thing you need to factor into your budget. you cant just get mufflers and bolt them in. well if you want it done right that is. you want to keep your mufflers in the stock location so if you ever buy prebent tail pipes they will bolt or weld right in. they wont fit if you change your mufflers location. well they would but then you would need to do a bunch of work later on down line to get every thing to go together right

dont buy them from flowmaster. they are cheaper on ebay. i dont know why but they are. just make sure that the seller you pic has low shipping. Like i said i payed like $55 for each muffler i forget the shipping cost maybe $15-$20 and the tail pipes were $135 with $12 shipping. if you buy it all from ebay you will save about $60.

here are some cheaper super 10s make sure you know if you need an off set or not before you buy http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Flow...tem2eb107b65cQQitemZ200538568284QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories FLOWMASTER STAINLESS SUPER 10 SERIES RACING MUFFLER 2.5: eBay Motors (item 380280258274 end time Nov-17-10 06:02:16 PST) i was looking for cheap tail pipes for you but i guess they cost more for your year. any ways keep an eye out on ebay for them you may find them cheaper. its starting to look like your tail pipes cost over $200 but i didnt look that hard.

#28 ·
Any one that was made for your car should fit as long as you keep you mufflers in the stock location. but make sure....ask the seller questions tell them you what to use flowmaster super 10s and if there tail pipes will bolt or weld right up.

remember when you buy the mufflers to buy two of them. so where it said Quantity: enter (2) most of the time they will only charge you shipping on one of them. thats $10 savings. make sure you know what you want before you but it so sleep on it figure out your budget and then look around for the best deals. there just some things you dont want to cheap out on or you will end up redoing them all over again costing you more time and money. thats why im saying that you may as well spend a little more money now and get the tail pipes because do you really want to cut and reweld your stuff twice. as for me the answers no....
