found on AMs facebook. those are some sick nasty numbers

seriously. ive contemplated trading in for the gas mileage so many times

lol...you don't have to tell me that. i've thought the same. however once i get my new job just down the road i don't think it'll bother me as much. the new interior would be nice though

Well truth be told, the HP rating from the super charger at the wheels is FAR greater than the 5.0. Its something like 427 at the wheels I believe vs the 5.0 360 or something along those lines.

Yea I posted this video about a week but ig no one saw it lol, oh well its still badass and I would love to have one although I would prefer a turbo

So 5k for the kit an injectors, how much for install and dyno tune? I know the tunes round here are 450.00 so we are @ 5400.00 then add the install and we are close to the number I threw out there, and again thats 6k for a down pmt for a stock 5.0, add the CAI, TUNER, headers and X pipe and you are at about the same power as the F/I v6. Again a little more stable and reliable. YOu can also say all day there are cars that can handle alot of f/i for 100k in miles but that doesnt mean all cars will or the fact you wont have to tinker with it on a reg basis. Im well aware engines can handle heavy modding stock, a few years back, GMs Ecotech engine could handle 300Hp per litre in a 3.2l motor. But i wouldnt strap that much power to a DD. and thats the biggest point, this car would be a DD not a track car.

In all honesty as much as I want an s/c I really can't see myself spending 5k on anything other than a turbo.

Agreed

The tunes are included in the kit I believe, they are done by ProCharger. So you can spend 5K on the V6, be faster than a 5.0. OR spend 6K more on a 5.0, then spend an additional 1.5-3K on the 5.0 just to be quicker than a V6 with FI, so your total is already at 8k-9K more than the V6. And don't forget about the poor MPG you get vs the V6, that in itself makes the V6 thousands of dollars cheaper.

We can argue all day about the reliabilities with our engines, all of which is theory and speculation, without proof. So I'll just say that if you want to spend 9K more to be quicker than a V6 with FI, AND spend thousands more a year on gas, then thats your choice. As for me, I'll go with what Robert Frost would say: I'll "take the path less traveled by". :)

My whole thing is I find more enjoyment out of building a car than just buying it. If I was to simply have gotten a 5.0 I would have no mod money and I am pretty sure that I would have gotten bored by now. Some of you might say you would not get bored with that much hp but I am pretty sure I would personally.

#30 ·
Id most likely get my car dyno tuned, but thats not 'necessary'. But the rest of your arguement, again, is all speculation. So if thats how you feel, go with the 5.0.

#31 ·
is seems like the bulk of your argument for the 5.0 is unreliability of a FI 3.7
but do you really think that procharger didnt at least do some research on engine stress and whatnot, we're talking 8psi which isnt a horrendous amount of boost, kno why srt4s are so unreliable from the factory? cuz that little 2.4 is pushing about 20psi

its are you willing to take that risk vs more money
pros and cons,
FI 3.7 - cheaper, faster, better fuel econ but could possibly be unreliable
stock 5.0 - more expensive, slower, worse fuel econ, but could be more reliable

personally would prefer a turbo set up, def more efficient, plus i cant stand the sc whine

I'm sure there is, I just don't know it.

konastangpete I agree with you. But if you really break it down, it still may even be cheaper to run a FI V6 vs the 5.0 even if the V6 needs engine work after a 'tragic'.

Doing some quick math in my head, with the rising costs of the gas prices and the amount of fuel the 5.0 consumes vs the 3.7 with a turbo set up, used as a DD -- the amount of gas you spend over a span of time of, lets say, 12 months will already be equal to, if not, greater than, the costs of repairs or engine work on a 3.7.

So IF the 3.7 is, lets say "guaranteed" to break down if you go FI, the costs are the same, if not, still cheaper, for us Sixxers.

Running at these power levels consistently is sure to severely shorten the engine life. The 3.7 is a 225 cu/in engine. In general it is not advisable to push engines toward a 2/1 HP to cu/in ratio without beefing up the internals. I would think this setup might have possibilities if it incorporated a driver adjustable waste-gate so the boost could be run at a mush lower level for normal operation and set max at about 6lb. I don't think anyone wants to blow their new 3.7.

I can't wait to see what your results are with the longtubes, X pipe and control arms are when you get them installed.

#44 ·
Install bbk headers and o/r xpipe. The xpipe has places to put the o2 sensors after that once you get it tuned you will be fine and won't be throwing codes.

#45 ·
You may end up getting the wrong O2 sensor extentions for the front O2 sensors. I did. But i got an email from AM saying it was an issue they were made aware of and the issue lies with BBK. All you gotta do is call AM and let them know and they will square you away. I still gotta call. lol. Been super busy.
