For those who have done this, how much should I expect to pay to do a full H/C/I job? I can do it myself but i'm not exactly sure the cost that's involved.

The cam swap would obviously be the most expensive part but as far as porting and polishing the heads and intake what would be a good budget?

Well I Did my own porting cost me a die grinder and bits-200
The Intake if windstar get one from slonison here on mm-100
your gonna need a gt tb
And Cam get a regrind from esg 215$
But I bought my heads, lower intake from another member on here for 130 shipped so 645$ give or take
But you'll need new head gaskets
Lower Intake gasket
Egr bracket from windstar van if you wanna keep egr
Tune to run proper
I got a ported lower and ported heads for sale

Well I wouldn't do the windstar swap since I still want to go the M112 route. With that being said I probably wouldn't spend a lot of time porting the intake either. You think $1,000-1,200 after a dyno tune is a good price to expect?

reps btw

So in other words you just want ported heads, lower Intake, and Cam?
Depends on who does the job pm esg he does all that he can hook you up for sure man

My list

Cam with water pump 250.00 shipped from a fellow mm member
Comp cam springs 100 something lol
comp cam rods 79.00
retainers 15.00
top end gasket kit (felpro) 167.00 i think ...maybe 200
rtv tubes 11.00
Timing chain and gears 62.00
New heater core tube (broke org) 109.00
Lifters..... cnt remember lol

Ive spent just about $3000 so far for my H/C/I build. I will probably spend another $100 and that is not including tuning.

No new roller lifters, but I did get a new timing chain(and supporting gears) as well as new injectors. And ESG is doing the P/P work. I payed him $1500 for a custom cam, P/P upper and lower intakes, and P/P cylinder heads. Not a bad deal.

03 christian is right; it could be necessarily. But for a simple cam swap I would say no.

Otherwise go search ebay for some used 24lb injectors for cheap :icon_idea:

#28 ·
so having larger injectors add some extra power with an h/c/i?

#30 ·
No they do not, but you could push the limit of our stock fuel injectors if you make too much power. They generally seem good up to 230rwhp (the number may vary).

#33 ·
Hmm

It gets much more expensive then people think
Ported heads alone may run you around 1000$.
tuner 400. dyno tune 400.
Thats 2k right there.

Then intake/cam
gasket set
head bolts
pushrods
springs/retainers
and all the other little **** you will need like new coolant, oil, filters, if spark plugs are old, now is a good time to change.

But also keep in mind if you dont have a high flow cat or off road set up your cam will sound quiet as **** and you wont get near the power. Even with a cat back system....

So you want to do some work there too.

3k +

Then you start looking at things like ... cool I have lots of power now ...
So I need to keep it planted. I need a tlok or 8.8. Then you will want gears to go with it.

blah blah blah

Before long you spend 5,000 and barely keep up w/ a 2v GT.

Then mofo's be like I told your ass to turbo it ...

#34 ·
AND THEN....
you go to the 1/4 mile with a group that consist of a stalled z28 and an 03 cobra and a few other cars you run xx.xx which is faster than everybody in the group and you have a grin everywhere :p

Well honestly the best thing for your money would probably go to a dyno and do a few pulls, dyno shops normally charge from $50-75 a pull.

you could make 350rwhp easily with a turbo on a stock engine.. But if you are set on a M112, you could do a H/C/I build and throw the blower on with a 11-13psi boost and you would be happy.

Also with the fuel injectors you could always get used 03-04 cobra injectors and install them before your m112, it won't hurt and it would make sense while you have the engine apart.

#37 ·
I don't think I would need that much boost for 350 if I did an H/C/I build as well, but I don't know. I was thinking 8-10 psi

An M112 would be pretty cheap as opposed to custom fab'ing my own turbo setup, so i'm pretty dead set on that. Especially if I can get the parts for a decent price.

+1

For what 04Sixxer wants to accomplish running meth will probably be needed, if boost is kept low you can get away without running meth. LilRoush (the guy who designed the M112 sixxer kit along side mysteed) ran his m112 without meth without any issues.

Agreed.

I have been curious what kind of times esg is squeaking out of his car. And what kind of numbers are being laid down.
