ive had my 2005 mustang a few days now and i just noticed that there is a "button" on the dash above the radio that says "TCS". my best guess is that it means traction control system but im not sure....what does it really mean and what does it do.
if you could answer these questions it would be great--
1)what does it do?
2)does it affect performance (speed, acceleration)
3)does it affect fuel efficiency?
4)all in all...is it better to keep it ON or OFF?

thanks very much.

i'm assuming traction contol.
it helps you stop doing burnouts more or less when your tires start to spin or lose tractions it like cuts out the engine or something goofy i heard it applies the brakes but i dunno.
speed it doesnt effect does help you turn at high speeds though :D acceleration yeah it'll bog you does if you start to spin a tire
um fuel eff. i'm not to sure i wouldnt think too much or anythign noticable
keep it off most guys say it;s just a personal thing really. if you don't like sliding side ways around corners or burning out then leave it on? lol

TCS = Traction Control System

What it is, is a bunch of sensors that watches over your wheels pretty much. When it senses that there is tire spin it will bog your engine down, by cutting fuel, and by small brake pressure if I remember correctly. Many people swear it should be turned off all the time. If you stomp it, and you have that brief moment of nothing happening, a lot of times it is your traction control. If you have an automatic, it is your traction control and your torque converter.

... my firends Maro switches the drive wheel trying to find one with better traction... he keeps his off tho... but he is a dump pussy that won't race me unless my car is broked

keep it on for everyday driving but if you want to get a good launch or are racing turn it off.

You don't have it I'm pretty sure. I know the v6's between 94-98 don't have it, don't know bout the GT's but if you do have it there will be a switch by your ciggarette lighter by your shifter.
