Ok, here is my situation. I am stuck at my school parking lot with my 89 gt and i have a good indication my starter has gone out. I have a new starter in my back seat, a very simple ratchet set, no floor jack, and a lot of hope. I need to replace my starter and there is no way in hell i want to get it towed and fixed (i'm a college student, i'm broke). I may be able to get a floor jack from my cousin, maybe a scissor jack. Anyway, I can't seem to get the top bolt off the starter. The bottom was a piece of cake with a 9/16 socket but i can't reach the top bolt. I had a '90 with a 2.3 and it wasn't this hard to replace the starter because i had that one out in like 5 min. Any pointers on how to get this damn thing out? can't seem to get at it from the top, the manifold is in the way...

ive done this about 300 times. i can actually do it in less than 5 minutes blindfolded with my feet. the top bolt you will need a couple of extensions, the best way is to get a extension, a swivle, and another extension, and go through the top between the frame rails and the headers. i just pulled mine yesterday and put a new one in.
