Why does he talk **** about 410s?? It only jumps ur rpms about 300. Gas mileage won't suffer to much if u baby it... And they r the best seat of the pants mod for cheap! Like a rear end rebuild and the gears is like 350 but u gotta pay to have em installed.

I am anywhere between 18 - 20 mpg.. thats 2 - 5 better than my SUV and not 1 or 2 behind my Chrysler Cirrus (Dodge Stratus).. I have a manual, not sure if you do or not, but I don't think that's bad at all.

Wow, awesome first car....and kudos to you for buying it yourself . My daughter will be 15 in January and can't even save up enough money to buy herself a pack of gum :lol Be careful out there...and welcome to Modded Mustangs :)

Congrats and welcome, the mod bug hits us all. Just make sure you're safe in your driving and modding. Good luck man, and kudos for buying it yourself.
If you want to save gas buy something else. I get 16-18 in the city doing the same thing, school, work, home.

i have stock gears (3.27s) and last time i figured my mpg it was 16.3 i think. thats dividing total miles drivin on that tank by how many gallons u put in when u fill up.

^^ that was all city driving. dunno wat i get highway. based on those numbers prob 18ish

get a tuner...then you can get the most out of any mods you do

thanks for the advice. I don't think my dad will let me drop a 4.10 in as all of his "buddies" do nothing but trash talk mustangs and have mentioned 4.10 gears before. So if anything I'd be forced to go 3.73. Intake wise I was looking at the C&L or BBK but I'll definitely give the steeda set up a look. Haven't even looked at programmers yet. Only other thing I need to get is an o/r x-pipe. my buddy has a Pypes brand and loves it but I've heard bad things about it on here regarding to fitment? Overall I think this will be a good thing for me to focus my time and money into as I gave up my passion for racing motocross for this car. lol
...dont do it...pypes are garbage....look up any thread about them....pure crap

I was somehow able to pull almost 19mpg (highway) with all the mods listed in my garage lol... but in my old car I had 4.56's on a 98 cobra and still got around 19-20 highways miles

Nice Car

Your car needs to breath better to go faster right? Your OEM intake system is holding you back. Check out the K&N FIPK intake system for a 2002 GT, which made just over 10 horspower. Its a cheap easy way to make some extra horses and has a million mile warranty which means it will last longer than you own the car.

Well, my commute is 29 miles one way and, while it's not all highway, it could be considered the equivalent since I rarely hit a stop light.

My car is completely stock except for a Diablo 93 octane tune, and I do calculate my MPG the same way you do.

Last note, I was getting about 17.8 - 18.4 before I changed he fuel filter (my guess for the first time EVER) and I saw a noticible increase in MPG. The fuel that came out of the filter looked like dirty mop. It was BLACK and you could not see through it whatsoever.

thanks everyone. I'm not to worried about gas mileage as my commute to school is less than two miles. Longest distance I'll travel will be to my mom's house. (about 30 miles) so to me, gas mileage is my least of worries compared to insurance. I think my dad is just used to his dodge ram 1500 with the 360. He get's about 9.9 mpg highway lol. Today I went and had my car aligned and turns out it has been lowered therefore the camber is ridiculously out of whack. The rivets have already been drilled out and everything is adjusted all the way out so I'm going to have to order some aftermarket pins. Also got the black bumper inserts in today. I think the mod bug is beginning to hit!!!
