LT Header questions. What brands is everyone running?

Headers are going to be the last thing I do to the car before summer is over... I think. My stock manifold bolts are stripped and I can't stand this exhaust leak any longer. I know the brands but I really can't decide. I have a Mac H pipe now which I know I'll have to switch out for a shorty. First off do the brands have to match, example, Mac LTs with Mac Midpipe? Or can I switch them up? Mac LTs with bassani X for example. Or am I going to have fitment issues? I might even look into a summit midpipe to save a few bucks.

Also I know Pypes has been getting some bad reviews on their midpipes from the 99-04 guys but over on the S197s forums they seem to really like their headers. they said pypes headers are a copy of kooks design. Anyone running pypes? I am looking for a header with no fitments problems. I want this install to go smoothly if at all possible. Plus the price of Pypes if very attractive but by no means do I want to cheap out, but 900.00 headers are just out of the question.

Also what finish should I be looking at if the car is not a daily driver and does not see rain. Car gets driven maybe 2-4,000 miles a year. Pypes offers one finish which is a polished 304 SS finish that I can see on AM.

And then when my clutch goes I am going to be switching to a T56 as of now. So I really don't want to take the headers out if that is possible. What headers will not require me to remove them. I think Flowtech and Kooks or hooker I have heard?

and lastly what brands are all you guys running? let me know how fitment was and what brand midpipe you are using.

Thanks guys.

American Racing Headers with catted x pipe all stainless steel.

I've got SLP longtubes on my 02 GT. Have them paired up with the SLP o/r X and Borla Stingers. I get compliments every single day, and fitment was better than stock.

Kooks if you wanna shell out the money or Hooker, but best bang for the buck i'd say Mac.

Ive got SLP lts with catted slp xpipe and lm1. If you dont want to take them off for a trans drop them go with mid length or shorty. Bassani has a mid set for a decent price.

Unless you take it to a muffler shop to make whatever midpipe you have to work with your headers the easiest way is to get the same brand mid and headers

BBK, JBA, and Ford Racing make shorty headers for under $600. I am unsure if anyone else makes mid lenght. I dont know too much about the shorty headers, but my recommendation would be to go mid or long headers.

I didnt know how soon you were looking to get some headers, but when I did a search to see if there were any manufacturers for mids I found... Bassani Modular Mid Length Headers - '96-'04 Ford Mustang...and they are $549 right now

i love my stainless MAC LTs, bought em from GTRACR88 for 200. i think they r 400 new..? not sure. i didnt drop the trans when i put em on, just the K obviously. i dont think youll have an issue gettin around the tranny with a t56 or anything tranny, the actuall housing r pretty similair in size.

and ive never seen TF headers... ever haha.

???

i must b remembering this wrong... cuz i dont remember being anywhere near the tranny when i put mine in. mine r MACs but still, i cant imagine the headers being in the way...

But wat I'm sayin is, why would u hav to remove the headers to drop the tranny if u didn't have to drop the tranny to install the headers? I mean if it's in the way wouldn't it b a ''goin in comin out'' type thing? That's y I can't picture it, cuz I didn't touch my trans when I put mine in

Because they sit a little underneath the tranny bell housing. Just like saying why would you have to drop your crossmember to take out your tranny if you didnt have to drop the tranny to put on the crossmember.

Meh, you'll be fine... You can probably remove the bolts and jack up the tranny and pull back to get out of the way enough but idk lol.

hooker super comp or ceramic flowtechs you dont have to move or loosen to take the tranny out. I love my flowtechs for that reason since my trans has been out so many times lately

goddamn it. I ment Flowtech not Trickflow in my poll hahah. Oh well, but yea taht is the reason I was looking at the Flowtechs because of the convenience with the trans removal. The only thing with the flowtechs is that both ends are flanges so wouldn't a exhaust shop have to modify what ever midpipe I choose? http://www.holley.com/data/products/pictures/large12114-1flt.jpg
