... and now I can't sit.

This just happened 2 hours ago as it still rains outside. I was dead stopped at a red light with a van about 10 ft in front of me.

I look in the rear view and see a Ford FOCKUS movin in on me pretty fast. When I noticed the car it was still doing about 35 mph @ 7 cars in between us. The brakes locked, in the wet with some leaves under her right tire. At that moment I already knew I was gonna take a pounding in the rear.

The best I could do in a sitting duck position was brace myslelf to the steering wheel and push down on the brake as hard as I could so I could avoid hitting the van in front of me. Didn't happen.

When her car made contact with mine she was still at about 20 mph. Looking in the rear view I just see my trunk open really fast as my eyes are suddenly taken away from the mirror. This is the part when I got a quick glimpse of the cieling from my body being pushed forward so quickly from a dead stop.

With my brakes pressed firmly my car still slid about 10 ft and taped the van in front of me. Having my brakes jammed saved the intercooler, plumbing and turbo. The trade off was that the whole rear got pushed in.

She struck me hard enough that both quarter panels are bent under the windows. Wheel wells have about an inch from the tire. Exhaust ist ok since her car slid up into the tail lights. Driver door grinds as I open it.

I get out of my car and tell the lady in a nasty tone "you better have insurance" I WAS PISSED. The first thing she said was yes I have insurance and it's my fault. After that I calmed down and got on the cell to call 911.

What's important is that no one got hurt. The part that sucks is that the car will never drive the same. It only had 7,500 miles on the clock!

Didn't want to wait for a tow truck. It was about 1 mile from home so I drove. I even went into boost a bit just to see the trunk try and go down lol. As I pulled into the driveway it started to make funny noises in the rear. It's getting towed to the shop later today.

I had to vent guys. If you made it to here, thanks for reading.

I'll have photos in a few hours.

That sucks bro. I hate leaves and rain. I try to not take my Cobra out in the rain just because I've had to many close calls with dumb ass drivers. When it's dry out! Hopefully you'll get everything sorted out quickly and it doesn't "drag" on.

You think the insurance will total it? I hate hearing about this stuff because the car will never feel the same. They never do after accidents no matter how good the shop is. There will always be something funny about it. Also now it won't be worth as much since its been in an accident.

That's exactly my main concern. How it will never feel the same and it'll be worth **** when I try to trade it in.

Thanks for the replies guys.

That's terrible, man. Good luck on getting everything sorted out. Atleast everyone in the party were alright, so that's good.

Man.. that sucks. I don't know what I'd do in your situation. I hope things work out for the best for you.

Same thing happen to me but i got hit in the front driver side tire. I was going down the street and this truck decides to turn in front of me, and slams into my tire and bends it and the driver door wouldnt even open. I thought my car would never be the same because that bend the tire axle. It didnt get totaled so i was stuck with it i was very worried, but ever thing came out great you couldnt even tell the car was in a accident. It still felt the same driving it. It be all good man dont worry

If your frame is damaged, it's more than likely a total loss. I'd push for that if it's border line. Like you said - too many issues.

If they present you with a total loss situation - do your homework. Stop at a few different dealerships and find out what the "local market price" would be for your car. The insurance company will throw a figure out but if you can make a good case for the value of your car - and documentation of the costs of your mods!!! - they should take that into consideration. With low mileage - they should settle on the high side.

Remember that they owe you to put you back where you were prior to the accident - but they do not owe you to put you in a better place than you were. They also will not pay you for the car "not being right" after an accident. A reputable shop should fix it and make anything right that is wrong afterwards. If it's so bad that it will never be right - then it should be a total loss.

Good luck! If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me...

I guarantee that your frame is no longer straight. Your insurance should claim it a loss.

Same exact incident happened to me.

I hope they do cause I wouldn't want to push that car around corners anymore.

There would be one less soccer mom on the streets if something like that happened to me...
The funny part is when she was taking her things out of her car she pulled out an open bag with two soccer balls. I **** you not.

I mean its a shitty thing to say but I would hope its totalled if I were you...to try and look on the bright side even though its probably very hard right now, at least you could take your turbo off and buy another one....or wait for 2011 for 400hp!
I hope it's totalled too. I don't want that car anymore. Their insurance better pay up. I don't want a dime comin out of my pocket. I bought this car brand new, knew the history of it.
