tires

Do not get the nanking tires...decent traction for a short time. I got eighteen thousand on a set from pep boys. I just got sumitomo htr z and they are ok indrybut seem to suck in the rain. I am going to get a set of avon 550 a/s in 275/40 for my Cobra. I will sell the 94 GT w/the sumitomos on it. These are in the low end of the price spectrum. I have really liked kumho for traction, some have lasted 30k others 20k but good all around traction, I had the 712 and I think the others were the 711 or similar. A friend of mine here in va beach swears by the bfgoodrich a/s and I admit they are pretty good, bjs sells them for $147 installed each. I think bfgoodrich recently came out w/a better tire but cannot remember the name of it.

nittos are cheap also.

 

at the tire shop i went to it was $200 more =/ but idk maybe it was just there.

well what size should i get for the size of wheel im getting, i dont know where to look, im haveing trouble finding tires for those wheels, all im finding is nitto 555r but i dont think it seems too safe to have drag radials on an everyday driver. hydroplaning would be a problem in washington

 

are sumitumo 315/35/17's gonna give me good traction for launching at the strip?

 

there good, and better then alot of tires, but not better tractions then nitto

 

nitto will give you better trasction than sumitomos

 

yep like i said Nittos are the best.i have to sets of wheels and tires, i use my stockers with Nitto 555's in winter, and i use my FR500's w/ Nitto DR's the rest of the time. I love Nitto

 

I got my nittos from www.discounttiredirect.com and got all 4 with warranty and shipping for right around $450 or so...

 

Ive got nitto nt555r drag radial and theyre bad as ****.... so id say get em if u dont mind payin a little

 

i just cant find any nitto 555's for the wheels that i want, can someone help me out with that?

 

so what do you guys think about me keeping my 17x8" bullit wheels and just getting some 275/40's in back and 255/40's in front? NITTO 555's of course. I can wait to get those wheels, i keep trying to rush myself too much...i need a new job so i can spend more on my car FASTER!!

well it did say on discount tire that the 275's will fit 17"x8" wheels which i was suprised about too....

has anybody on here done that before??

 

alot of ppl use a 275 on a 8" rim on the rear. go for it.

 

I've got 275s on 18x8s and it is ok, just dont try sliding through a curve cause it'll get wirey
