hi everyone im new to the mustang and just traded my 98 grand prix gt for a 99 v6 5 spd stang (coil overs, gt style 17s, carbon fiber hood, short throw shifter, headers and true duals(which sound like sh*t)) i have right around 2000 to spend in play money ive saved up :) i need to know if it is possible to reach right around 300+ hp? w/ my budget id still be thrilled w/ right around 270hp. so w/ all this in mind i need to know whether or not this is a reasonable goal. also would i be better off to mod my v6 and if i do can i get that hp w/ 2grand or would i be better to swap to a 5.0 and settle w/ a lil less hp due to the potential of the 5.0 later on down the rd.

so essentially im asking can i get my v6 to push 270-300+ hp w/ 2000, if so wat all parts do i need. or preferably if at all possible can i swap to a 5.0 and stay in my budget and if so wat all do i need to do so? any and all help appreciated!!!

easy nitrous, cam, windstar and a GT rearend with 373 gears will do you fine.. If you do the work yourself you can get that all for probably 1800ish

Extra 200 paint hood to match car lol
Post pics man

For $3k you could go with an M112 setup and probably make close to 270hp. Turbo are gonna get you closer to the 300 mark, but you'll probably end up spending more. Or you could always run 100-125 shot of nitrous. That'll run you under $1000 but you won't always have the power and you'll have to remember to refill your bottle.

I would love to build a 4.2 with an m112 to see what i would get out of it. Jt is building single kits. he hasnt given a set price. OP, if your serious, talk to Jt.

and i have 4:10 gears in the rear end i have, can those gears go in a gt rearend? also im not familiar w/ No2 at all. so will i only hit my hp goal while im boosting or can i hit the hp goal consistantly w/o using my shot of nitrous?
You'll need a gt rear end if you want 300hp. Check if you have an 8.8 rear end. If the car has been modded that much, i wouldnt be suprised if it had an 8.8 in. The gears from a 7.5 wont fit in the 8.8 rear. Nitrous is a tricky thing. You'll only make power while its turned on. Nitrous kits get expensive too if you buy all the goodies and safety things. If you want 300hp constantly, you'll be better off going forced induction. Ie. turbo or supercharger. I would get a turbo over a supercharger.

pics coming soon, car is extremely clean w/ only 94xxx miles (and yeah im not sure how a feel about the carbon fiber hood, kinda takes away from the "muscle" of a mustang and makes it look more like a ricer, though it is more unique. ha im up in the air about it) and i have 4:10 gears in the rear end i have, can those gears go in a gt rearend? also im not familiar w/ No2 at all. so will i only hit my hp goal while im boosting or can i hit the hp goal consistantly w/o using my shot of nitrous?

agreed the gas mileage of a v6 is a huge plus, i had a "70 chevy c10 w/ a 383 stroker (560hp..not at the wheels lol) and i got 7mpg, tryin to avoid that again haha and is there anyway that i can reach around 270hp consitanly and stay naturally aspirated or do i have to turbo or supercharge it?

thanks for all the help guys! and ive made my decision, im gonna go FI and go w/ a turbo. im sure nothins better than the face of a GT owner gettin dominated by a v6 :D
so on that note. any suggestions on wat turbo kit to get? also do most kits come w/ new injectors and other internals, if not wat else will i need other than injectors, turbo, down pipe, intercooler..etc.. lol? and how much $$$ am i lookin at cuz w/ a turbo i have a feeling im gonna prolly spend about twice my orignal 2000 budget

when you get to that point come and see me :D

as for your 500+hp truck...must not of been put together well to be getting 7mpg....most stangs i know pushing 500-600 still get in the 15-20mpg range

the sticky thread that says everything turbo & supercharger might help you out...you need to do a lot of reading. Then you'll understand how they work and what you need. I mean sure, we'll help, but it doesn't seem like you know a lot about it right now. And with a single turbo kit you could get it done for around 3k. Talk to JTStang on here or any other forum about it if you are serious. He is making some kits. And you would have to get injectors, fuel pump, MAF, all that other stuff and tuning.

This.

Keep it! I used to have the same exact hood that I have now in black, thanks to an accident I got a new carbon fiber hood. I personally like the contrast with black. (look at pic, shitty pic but the hood looks good).

Just paint the carbon fiber hood... If I had a CF hood it would be to keep it light (have have under hood room) But I would paint it the color of the car... No need to blag that you have it..

haha it will be aways down the rd when i get to that point, and w/ the truck you gotta keep in mind that the motor was a 383 stroker (pretty heavy) the truck was a 1970 (again pretty heavy) and that it had a 2 speed powerglide tranny lol

lol this def dont need to be a sticky :p but im starting a simplified car audio thread that should be a sticky when im finished, i looked under electronices and the only sticky for it on there sucks so i was gonna write one. audio is wat i do :)
