Recently a friend of mine did the cash for klunkers program and traded in his rusty 91 lx...

Even with 2 quarts of sodium silicate and no oil.. the motor ran for nearly 9 minutes.

9 minutes.. with 252k miles on the stock long block.

No thats an idea. The point of cash for clunkers is to make people think obama is the savior of the car industry, environment, racist cops, poor people(who could in fact use a 2000 volvo for free), and in turn trying to get that approval rating back up by next election.

Sad on 2 parts to me.
Wish others that can't afford a new car could get some of those so called clonkers [ some of those vehicles were good cars, just high mileage ]
# 2 , we will always have the poor with us [ per the bible ] been better if they would have reasonably paid auto shops to fix some of those cars & gave them to some poor family, single parents, use them for like agencies like ymca, meals on wheels ,churches etc ....
sorry - not a big fan of this program right now :sorry

Sounds like some dealers are going to get get f-ed just like a lot of people on state tax returns.

If you want to pull people out of a recession, stop making cheesy programs that are band aid fixes..

Instead of paying out billions upon billions for a few select companies, how about giving each person in the us just say... 10 thousand dollars.

That or put a bullet in greedy tycoon ceos heads.. but that's illegal.

Union's have ruined it for there self's and everyone else.

The pollution is a bunch of bs. yes we are polluting but its not worse then it was in the previous years.

American cars can last these days. before the mid 90's they couldnt.

This whole "going green" is a way for the government and its minions to make more money. Why should it cost more to buy recycled paper or plastic or any other "Green" or "environmentally safe" item?!

I cant see it costing more to recycle something then to go out to the woods chop some **** up and ship it to a factory then process it, ship it again then out to the consumer.

But yet they charge more!! and while they do the recycle process they save on all that smog they dont put into the air from those bulldozer's, dumptrucks, and semi's.
its all a scam for the rich to get richer. when it comes down to it they dont care about the air/earth they care about there pockets.

Yes it is good to be cleaner and to "go green" and it has all the tree huggers happy.
but i dont think there main intention was to help the earth, i think they thought of a way to scam everyone in the world into spending more money and being happy about it.

Well a lot of the "green" items are considered "green" by using less plastic like deer park water bottles use 25% less plastic so that is cutting back, and changing stuff to be more environmentally friendly. Which is also Great because every little bit does help and this is needed to be done or it will get out of control.

I personally think this is the stupidest thing I have EVER heard. Why not take the cars, and then sell them to other countries and use that money to help the economy. I mean the amount of cars they are taking of the road and pollution cant be that great. I just think it is sad to destroy a perfectly good car that could be used for parts for someone who cant afford new ones.....but I guess with welfare and food stamps they can all get new cadillacs....GO OBAMA....

Hey I wasnt the only one bashing Nobama, I just think he is a dipshit. I know welfare has been around way before him, trust me thats part of the reason I moved to Mexico, I got tired of working my ass off for people who dont want to work to take my money. I just think its a shame, not to mention a waste of a car, I saw one where a guy traded in a Maserati, with low ass miles, and it was turbo. I would think that car would be worth more than 4.500 they junked it for, and yet again a waste, it was in mint condition, the leather seats were even perfect.

Oh i know that wasnt just for you, and yeah its bs that we pay for the free loaders.

it isnt the smartest thing they could of done. but they tried something. just think in a few months they will repo all the cars and make more money. :)
