So I threw this code the other day, a little over a week after I put on my C&L and tuned it (93R). I left it on that tune because at the moment, I don't drive very often...I did some searching and it seems that the general consensus is that its the altenator (bad diode) so I have an appt with Ford (still under warranty) and will be informing them of what I think the problem is. The car was running great while the tune and intake were on, no problems till the check engine light came on and the code threw...now its kinda boggy and sluggish around 40-50mph...

Two questions,
One...is it safe to use the race tune on a semi-daily driver?

Two...The car came, from the dealer, with a BBK intake and a tune already on it...as stated above, I swapped out the intake for a C&L and put my tune on it...if I bring it to Ford, who knows that the car came with an intake and tune on it, would it be wise to leave my current setup on the car and just inform them not to flash the ecu, because if they do, without the proper tune going back on for the intake, it could cause damage? Or should I swap the bbk back on? The only issue is that I might not have all the parts from the BBK :sorry My toolbench is rather messy, and was cleaned without my supervision the other day, so I'm not entirely sure everything is there.

Cliff Notes:
Code P0340
Car came with intake and tune
Should I swap original intake and tune back on or leave current and inform dealer?

Thanks in advance...

I threw the same code the other day, but my pony didn't drive bad at all. My buddy is a tech at one of our local dealers & he said it could be a bad cam sensor or the alternator (Bad Diode).Later the next day however the light went off, & I haven't worried about it anymore. 2nd question: Yes it is perfectly safe to run the race tune on a daily driver. I'm a advertising agent & drive mine hard all day with the same race tune. As far as I know the dealer will not do any warranty work on a flashed engine due to it voiding the factory warranty! As well as your C&L, the BBK is after market & should be accompanied with its own special Tune. Hope this helps you!

I tested the voltage this morning and I was putting out 14v...is that good, bad?

Roush, my car is still under warranty so I'm having them replace the altenator
