So after many months of searching for the right mustang I've finally got it narrowed down to two. I need experienced owners to give intelligent advice as to which I should purchase. Prices are not a factor.

The cars are:
2004 mustang gt black 5speed stock rebuilt salvage title done by a collision center 50000 miles

2000 mustang gt silver 5speed 75000 miles with the following mods
Bbk short throw shifter
Cai
Cobra front bumper and silver cobra rims
Tint all around
Fiberglass cowl style hood
Ss rear bumper "mustang" insert
Lowered (not sure what brand)
Exhaust (pretty sure it's flowmaster

depending on the sevarity of the colision, I would say the 04. I think it is always best to go with a newer car to start with especialy if it is going to be your DD

if you wouldnt mind, could we hear how much they are going for? that plays somewhat of a factor but if moneys not really a big deal i would go with the 04.:2cents

Y'all need to listen to jive on this one. You can have serious problems down the road. Not to mention it will have close to no resale value when it comes time for the next stang. I bought mine with 11,000 miles on it FYI

Depending on price and condition, I'd go with the 2000.

id look for a different car, im not big on buying modded cars with high miles, you never know what the previous owner did to it, obviously he beat on it if it is modded.

my car was completely stock, it was owner by a young school teacher who got pregnant and traded it in for a mini van, yes a girl owner my stang lol

very bad idea to buy a car with a recontructed title for 3 BIG reasons, IMO. #1 when it comes time to sell you'll get hosed on it, #2 even if you can get full coverage insurance on it (not every state will let you with bad title) they will give you HUGE problems if you ever have to file a claim, #3 I've been the auto/truck industry all of my life & no matter what anyone tell's you (even if there's pictures) you will NEVER get the whole truth about the previous damage.

I would find out what happened to the 04 and the extent of the damage. If it was minor body work, it would probably be okay, but if the frame was bent out of shape and the doors and body panels dont line up very well, I would stay far away. You could always pay a Ford dealership to thoroughly go through the car and write down any problems or maintenance issues the car has so you know what you're getting yourself into. If they make an itemized list you can take the list and probably get a better deal. As far as poor resale value, if you can commit to keeping the car long term then who cares.

Well I checked it out and it had been backed into in a parking lot at slow speeds. The person who owned it wanted it totalled so they could get out of their loan payments on it. The front bumper had been cracked and it pushed into the fender, hood, and cracked one of the headlights. With all that stuff to replace, it got pretty expensive fixing it with brand new parts so the insurance company totalled it.

A body shop bought it and replaced the hood, fenders, headlight, and bumper with new products straight from Ford. I looked and the radiator supports were fine (no paint cracks to indicate a tweak) adn the frame was straight. I test drove it and you could let the steering wheel go and it would drive straight for a mile.

So after the test drive and inspection, against most of the posts on here, I bought the car. I drove it 2,000 miles home and it ran like a champ. I'm pretty confident I made a good choice since I'm going to keep it for a long time, so resale value doesn't really matter to me. I'll let you know if anything goes bad in the near future.

Personally I wouldn't want either. I wanted my car to be bone stock. Chances are they didn't put mods on just for show! even if it has low mileage, could be some really rough mileage. out of those two, definately the 2000 though, never buy salvage title unless its a really trusted source, and even then have fun selling that car later

dont feel bad rjstang....a woman had my car too lol I got it bone stock :) I would stay as far away from an R title car as I could...but thats jus me lol congrats and welcome to the club! :D

Most insurance companies dont give 2 shits about a salvaged title.

So you need to ask yourself if your gonna drive this thing for a long time or not.

**** when i was lookin at cars someone had a black gt with loudmouths and a few other things, the radiator was relocated idk how, the engine had black slime on the TB and looked like it was leaking everywhere (he said he spray cleaned it lol) and the pulleys were scratched, and under the hood the metal on the side was all warped...and they said it was a slight fender hit, no big damage or frame or engine damage
