Hey guys, just curious on what your thoughts are on a push button start for the mustang. I'm thinking of ordering this one off of american muscle:

Ford Mustang Push Button Start Ignition Kit (05-10) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

However it's pretty lame and looks....plastic-y. And i don't want to put it in the cigarette lighter. I read in the "What did you do to your stang today" that someone custom drilled in into their center console or dash. Doesn't sound too hard.

There's also this one from CJ,

MUSTANG SILVERHORSE RACING PUSH BUTTON ENGINE START KIT 2010-2012

but it claims 2010-1012. I thought it was just simple wiring so could it be made to work in my 06?

Post your picks so i can see what yours looks like! Thanks

Talk to AsianSensation... He made his own and I think sells them!
indeed, before they changed the classifieds section he had a whole writeup/thread on them and how indepth he could get with it.

just my opinion, but the basic ones that are cheap are virtually worthless. it's not really a push to start because you still have to put your key in and turn it to the run position.

now if you want to bring the cash for the real push to start setup then i'm all about that. just have a card in your pocket or wallet and all you do is push the button. no need for the key.

I'm with Bob on this one. I think it's kinda dumb to have to put the key in and then push a button. Like why would you want to add a step?

A true push button is kinda sweet, but the cig lighter one is kinda gay. It reminds me of fake hood pins. Probelm with the other one is that our cars dont have the Smart Keyless Entry System, so you still have to pull out your key to open the door. the point of push button start in other cars like the Vette is the keyfob stays in your pocket, the door unlocks as you apporach, then push the button to start. my 2 cents.

It's like a party trick...it looks cool the first time but would be a pain. It's like changing the channel with the Xfinity app. The first time it's amazing to your friends but after that...meh.

I'd say don't, it's merely for cosmetics and adds nothing but another step as mentioned above. But, that's just me. Do what you like!

+1 to them being a pointless mod. You still have to put the key in and turn it. Spend the money on something that does something. You also lose the best place to plug a radar detector or GPS in. (unless you hard wire yours, in which case, that doesnt matter)

As for looks, the one AM sells, looks OEM. The one that CJ sells, looks like its straight out of the ricer section at pep boys. Looks like a ricer piece of **** to me.

BTW, just to keep it real.

Yes its a pointless mod. Yes it takes up a 12v spot that I do sometimes use.

Yes I sort of still want one.

I still have to sit there and press the clutch so I may as well turn the key. But that's just me. It's not like she's doing remote start from a few feet away or start to "warm" while I drink coffee. I'm already sitting in the cockpit...may as well turn the key.

P.S how lazy could one be to pay $650 for that King?

It really is just a novelty mod. But it CAN be wired up to start without a key. I decided against that and just wired it up normally. I didn't want some douche thief just hopping in my car and pushing a button and driving away. it's a cool conversation piece but that's about it.

*poof* a wild idea appears!

Wire it up that way, and use an alarm that has starter disable. That way, without you disarming it, the button wont start the car.

Do you have a link to anything about how to wire it up so it works without the key? (short of manually looking through wiring diagrams that is)
