Its hard to tell exactly what your talking about can you get a picture and we should be able to tell you better

 

plug it back up and see

 

ok see how the gasket has a hole in the middle between the 2 sets of 4 ports and how that spacer has that hole blocked off.. thats the one im talkin about

 

Just install the gasket as is. You dont have to worry about the hole in the middle.

 

theres a pic of the center hole on the lower..

there is a matching hole on the upper plenum..

if you notice on the previous pic that the spacer has that hole plugged up.. does anyone know what that center hole does?

when i took my upper intake off there was a pile of carbon sitting on that hole plug on the spacer

any thoughts?

 

isnt that just for the egr??

 

so if the egr is blocked off, would that cause the engine to surge?

 

I wouldn't think so I removed my egr valve and just blocked it off and i dont have any problems

 

I would double check the timing i had a surge issue a while ago and it turned out to be timing
