it will be easiest just to replace the mach 460 speakers than getting all new ones because u need 8ohm speakers and will have to run new wires if u want to do it the right way

i dont have the mach 460 system where would i be able to purchase that?

 

I replaced mine with pioneer 6x8. The wiring is very similar. Thay fit right in the old holes. Putting that rear speaker contraption back on is a PITA!

I have the same issue with my driver side front door speaker. Would those listed above bolt right in & will they work with the mach 460 system in a stock 02 gt?

I would look for a cheap set of Mach 460s or even 1000s on eBay..

 

I have the Mach 460 system in my Bullitt. It replaced the old speakers with a much better sound, fuuler sound. Even used the stock amps in the rear. I have yet to do the doors. I started one but it looked way too involved. That was like a year ago. I still need to do the doors. lol

how hard it it to install the mach 460?

 

I have the 460, they went right in. The only issue is when you change the head unit. You have to be careful with what wire harness you buy otherwise you'll only be getting sounds from the tweeters and the rear.

 

Cool man. I was thinking of getting a head unit that will fit the whole big area. What harness would you reccomend that will workout?

i prefer alpine or infinitys, if you want a true kick ass sound get those in a component package and a 4 channel amp.

Yeah, they sell the kits specifically for that at any car audio shop. I guess the last owner must've played the cheap card and skipped getting it since its not really necessary. Should cost around $15.

I bought an aftermarket dual din and it sounds better than stock, though the wiring harness was a pain to figure out.... Wound up buying a 05-09 Mustang GT wiring harness.... And all you need is the plastic trim panel out of an 01-04 car and you will have an opening for a dual din

 

BaznastyDave I see you have a different shift knob, kinda looks like the one the 05+ models came with. Is that it? Or a aftermarket 99-04? I need to get one and I like the one you have, so I don't know If to just buy the 05+ one and put it on mine (If it'll fit or not) or to bust a mission looking for an aftermarket one that looks like it and was made for our models.

Ohh and yeah that'll work as well but he'd still have to buy the kit to fill in the void of the stock cd player.
