I decided that the only mods I am gonna do to my car is gears (probably 3:73s) aand a short throw shifter. I am a student and cant afford for mods to end up blowing something in the car and putting me out of a car. Question is what do I need to od to make the car last? Again it has 115k miles, but was taken care off. I just put a new fuel filter, serpentine belt, all 4 brake pads and rotors, and some mil eliminators. what else needs to be done

copper core spark plugs gapped at .035

carefull with your short throw :) Yes, you can shift faster, but you can actually shift faster than your syncro's can catch up...

find a nice off road x pipe on craigslist...that will free up 10 hp

oil change, pcv valve, sparkplugs, coils, and clean the inside of your throttle body, and if you cant afford a cold air intake put a new air filter, and clean maf

If you put on a CAI, make DOUBLE sure to never, ever drive anywhere NEAR ANY standing water.

I have now know (personally) two people that have nice viewing holes in their blocks all because of CAI's.

my old intake was behind my passenger foglight, but thats when i had a supercharger on it. maybe they make the same style cai? or custom made ones perhaps

I suppose that would make a bit of a difference. My old RX-7 had a CAI that fed behind an unused fog light opening. I used to beat the hell out of that car and skip it over flooded roads. I'm surprised I didn't fluid lock the engine now that I know better.

Thankfully I know better now and my Mustang CAI isn't quite so poorly located.
