ok i need somethin cleared up

so the 2v GT is a SOHC engine, which means it has 1 cam over each head?

does that mean the 4v DOHC engines have 2 cams over each head?

or am i missing something here lol

You are correct sir. The DOHC has 2 cams. Dual Over Head Cam. It also has 4v per cylinder. The 2v GT is SOHV, or Singe Over Head Cam. The number of valves does not necessarily coorespond to the number of cams on every car. And that works in reverse too. There are DOHV cars with 5v per cylinder and SOHV cars with 3 valves per cylinder. hope this helps.

HMUSN is correct. The key point is OH. The new mod motors are Over Head. The old ones have the cam in the valley under the intake. I don't remember what they call that, but they only have 1 cam because of it. Most Big Block Chevy's run a single cam, not overhead.

NOrmally traditional muslce cars are supposed to be pushrod. Look at Chevy (other than the Northstar motors) and tell me a sports car that they have, thats a V8, that isn't a pushrod.

Most companies did away with pushrod because of emissions and that OHC was considered "new" technology.

Power wise, pushrods are cheap, easy to work on, and seem to take better to mods.

No. Show me one stock push rod long block 281 cubic inch motor making 1000rwhp. People have taken 03-04 cobra motors that far. The Europeans have been using ohc motors in their sport cars since the 50's

ya i am more of a OHC guy. pushrods are ok i guess but i like have the OHC more. and **** eletronic is taking over that some day too. I mean some cars have that but I am sure later on the valvetrain will all be eletronic someday.
