To throw it out there quick and dirty Im new to the 5.0 crowd and I'm looking for a gt block to do a complete rebuild. I'm going on a idea of somewhere in the 400 to 500 rwhp range. Most importantly I can't find a block to save my life. So first things first I'm looking for a block if any of the mm crowd has one or knows where to buy. Last just need someone to walk me through the step by step. Thanks!

I would not buy a block with extra holes drilled in the lifter valley.

no such thing... with the fox vintage, all gt means is a body kit.

the stronger factory blocks we have are the mexican blocks and the r blocks

standard ho blocks are usually considered good up to about 500hp depending on who you talk to.

So I prob should just go for a good 351w? So that begs the question keep it carbed or fuel injected? There seems to be a abundance of those engines as opposed to the 302. What mods should I look at for the 351? Stroking and what not?

So any particular year or things to look for when shopping for a 351? What brands should I consider for stroker kits, rebuild kits, heads, etc?

The basic 2 choices are roller block or non roller block. The older blocks pre 74 are stronger blocks but starting in the mid 90s they came equipped to run a roller cam. with a roller block you can run any hyd roller cam you want including those designed for a 5.0 . The roller blocks will be stamped " F4TE " .

but all you need for a the non roller block is to buy the link bar roller lifters.
