Ive done 145mph with 4:10's and coulda gone a little faster.. But i wouldnt try that nemore that was when i first got my car and was a dumbass and irresponsible..

just curious why in the hell it matters how fast it goes? Unless your on a track your asking for a deathwish. I know 98% of us topped our **** out when we first got it cause we wanted to know but take it from all of us, don't do that ****, 1 bump, 1 dumbass car pulling out, 1 stray animal and say goodbye to your car. 150mph is no joke dude

even though it was crazy, i was tryin to hang with a row of exotic sports cars, and made it above 150+ with my 3.90's. sucked having a enzo ferrari just cruise and then wave as he floored it and left my ass in the dust. but i won't lie, a mustang at that kinda of speed is just retarded....

I have been to 150 twice, could probably hit 160, but promise I wont be able to clear 165 without a power adder. I keep my speed between 0-120, going in 5th is just not fun. Part of the fun of having a mustang is the feel of acceleration, something you don't really feel past 100. If you want to enjoy the 100-200mph stretch, get a super car or a liter bike.

Exactly, our cars arent like exotic or supercars to go 250 mph. American muscle cars are about torque and acceleration

I would still think with a stick 3rd should pull nicely

I was racing a old Stangray that few by me in my town. I had to sick up for Ford man!

Most people run out of power before they run out of gear. Cliffyk's chart takes in consideration friction, drag and horsepower. Besure to read the notes under the chart.

honestly, i think in our cars the 3.73 gears will take you no higher then 180-185... because the gearing between the tranny (mines the 3650) and the rear causes my motor to red line on the edge of bouncing off the rev limiter at that speed.

Sure, its "retarded" to go this fast and all... and you say the joy of american muscle is torque and acceleration... **** i've got torque at 120-140 still, to where when you hit the gas at 140 you still feel it.

I am English, and new to this forum. I have an 01 Bullitt GT. I can't believe all you big strong americans being scared to drive at 120-140mph ! My Mustang feels comfortable at those speeds - like a Grand Tourer ( GT ) should. In Germany everyone drives on the autobahn at that speed. Here's the news: it really isn't that dangerous. It is about finding the right time and place to make it safe. Going that fast might be outside of your experience, but that doesn't make it dangerous. I find it very strange that everywhere in the US, with the exception of perhaps LA or NY, everyone drives so slowly. Now, on a Mustang V8 forum, there multiple people advocating driving slowly ! I am wondering why you bought a Mustang if you aren't possessed to mash the gas pedal at every opportunity. Take up knitting, or tiddleywinks. And for heaven's sake MOVE RIGHT. Are you only interested in showing off burning the tyres and polishing the shiny paint ? If you have never done it, get out on the freeway right now, and see what your Mustang will do - 120 ? 130 ? 140 ? Who cares ? I promise you'll feel more alive after than you did before. And I doubt you'll even get a ticket, let alone get hurt.

1) Don't bring up old shitty threads.

2) By your logic, "I have a gun, might as well use it."

3) Let me know how many 150+ mph crashes you come frolicking out of.

4) I just re-read your post, and god damn... Don't have kids.

EDIT: Welcome to the forums! ;)
