Are underdrive pulleys really worth the money. I've been told they arent worth the money and not to mess with the pulleys on our cars but it seems like a lot of you have them with no problems. So whats the bottom line worth about 200 bucks or not?

How are you with a wrench?

You'll need a small wheel puller, torque wrench to 100 ft/lb, black RTV sealant, and your basic hand tools. An impact wrench is a plus for removing the crank bolt. There's a detailed procedure thread on the job if you use the search function. Not a hard job at all, did mine in about 1 1/2 hours.

Great mod for the money. Increased throttle response for sure. Good luck!

What branch? Retired AF, myself. The military auto hobby shops are pretty good, they'll have all the tools you'll need and someone there to help (hopefully they're worth a ****). Find the link to UDP installation on here, it's good. This is a piece of cake, even for a novice. Just follow the instructions. The RTV sealant is important. Otherwise you'll have an oil leak.

only reason i didn't do it is because i am trying to not spend money on something i'll not be able to use with the sc'er. yeah it's only 200 bucks, but that could also be put to some lca's or an upper. they are a good investment if you don't mind taking them off and selling them for about half of what you paid for them.

This thread is kinda old but I would rather post in this one than start a new one, My dads birth day is coming up soon, and I was thinking of buying him somthing for his stang. He is looking to add a bit more power, and a set of pulleys seem like they would be a good choice, do you need to tune these things in, or can we just bolt these things on and go, thanks.

thanks man, that was the idea that I got from what I was reading but I dont want to blow 200 bucks on somthing that might run like ****, I think that I might pull the trigger on this one. He has had the car for about 2 years now, and I think that he has had enough fun with the stock power out put, all we have done to the car so far is an MGW short thow shifter, witch has been a very nice mod btw.

I just did mine last week, took about 1.5 hrs. without lifting the car. I can tell a pretty significant difference in throttle response and the car seems to get to the higher rpm's faster. Definately worth it!! Makes sure you go with steeda though. You can rent a torque wrench and a 3 prong pulley puller from any local auto zone or advance auto. They are both pretty self explanitory to use.
