I realise that I tend to sound like I have stock in Harbor Freight (I do not), however the quality of their tools has grown so much over the last 10 years that I cannot help but point out the good stuff when I come across it.

Case in point is this puppy:

It is a strain gauge based digital torque instrument that can be placed inline with any 1/2" square drive tool combination to track applied torque, record peak torque and sound an alarm when a preset torque is attained--actually stages of alarm with the front panel LED turning from green to yellow when 80% of the preset is reached, and then to red with an audible alarm when the preset torque is reached.

You can read more about it and my testing of its accuracy on my blog.

That's pretty cool. Harbor freight is awesome. They sell everything, all different qualities too. Some are just cheap if your in a bind. Then they have some stuff that's a lot better. Good info man, I might pick one up

That is a cool tool. I wish it was available online. I've been burned so many times by my local store not carrying items (my "local" store being 20+ miles away) that I tend to just buy from them online now.

Call them up and ask--my "local" store is 35 miles away (Jacksonville)--or 50 miles (Daytona)...

The readout is just in lb-ft, but multiply it by 12 and you'll have lb-in, or divide your lb-in target by 12 to determine the lb-ft target.
