Which wheels would you run on a silver GT?

Just curious about what other people would run on my car. I love the black FR500s and I'll probably be content with them for quite a while, but was just throwing around the idea of a change.

IMO it's a good looking car as it is.

But the polished lip has been getting to me ever since I had checked out some of 360 forged's wheels on C6 Vettes, how they have the color matched lips.

I think a matte/semi gloss silver lip on a black FR500 would look a lot more clean/modern.

So, what would be your wheels of choice?

I was never super crazy about them. I was settled on buying a silver 01-04, and wanted to originally throw some chrome 03 Cobras on it when I bought one. Then I realized chrome and silver would just be too much brightness. Went to the choices of anthracite bullitts, anthracite FR500s, or black FR500s. The choice was made for me, bought it with the black FR500s, which is good because it's what I probably would've bought anyway.

I think I'm just slightly bored with my car after the first year of owning it, and not changing the look at all besides taking the spoiler off. Maybe when I eventually sell my Vortech setup, I'll put a little into looks. Chin spoiler, 03-04 Cobra mirrors and side skirts, and cutting a half coil off of the Eibachs would be pretty awesome.

I like the look of silver and black, but sometimes it just seems as if everybody runs it. Then again, a lot of people stick with the mustang wheels (not a bad thing). I like the silver and black paint/decal and chrome wheels on silver. I'm thinking I should just stick with my 35th Anniversary wheels and lower mine. lol

Lol, that's not a bad idea at all.

I ran an '03 GT and it was a pretty even match, except he had stock 17" Bullitts which are quite a bit lighter than the big 18x9 and 18x10 FR500s. We were dead even from 20 to 120-130, where I finally pulled ahead pretty good.

I don't think he would've had the chance to stay even with me if I had lighter wheels like the stock 17" Bullitts or the 35th anniversary style wheels. So, there's the positive side to having the stock wheels, slightly lighter than most aftermarket wheels.

I think the car looks great as it sits, honestly. The rims look good and the lip sets them off nicely.

sidenote: what percentage tint is that - 20 and 35?
Thanks man. And the tint, I really have no idea. The way it looks now, I bought it like that. Only thing I did was take off the Steeda wing I bought it with. But I think your guess would be right. Sides seem light enough to be 35, quarters and the back are super dark, but not quite 5% dark, so I'd have to guess 35 and 20 too. When I have the back redone since it's peeling, I'm at least going to go with 20 then.

All of my money so far has gone into the T56 swap, the Vortech setup, new tires, MM caster camber plates, Borla Stingers, a couple different mid pipes, a second Centerforce DFX, lol. I did pick up a new stock GT front bumper since mine's cracked, for only $90, but haven't had it painted yet. :lol

Hm, expensive. I never really liked any of their tapered series wheels (505a, sp16a, sp500, etc) and wasn't crazy about the classics or LM20s, but they grew on me a little.

C140s are real nice. Real racey look to them.

C140 or classics with an argent silver lip and black anodized center would be an extremely nice set of wheels.

But damn do they look good on a silver or grey car, with a grey or black center.

All that money though, lol. If I sold my Vortech setup and put out the type of money I'd need for C140s and better tires, I'd be getting near enough cash to buy a Hellion Hellraiser twin turbo setup. :lol

If it were true blue, black, MG, or DSG, I'd consider it, or probably go with black Saleens preferrably. All black wheel doesn't look right against silver to me.

Great from an angle.

Side, not so much.

I think if I were going to do anything to these FR500s, I'd get the centers redone in a fresh gloss black, and have the lips done in a matte or semi gloss silver. Similar look as now, it'd just look more modern and clean IMO without the shine of the polished lip.

I know dd bullets are over played a bit however.. Some black ones with the chrome lip would look sick. Guy with grey one in my town has some 17s staggered and it looks damn good!!

what do you all think about the chrome fr500s on a silver gt? i have an 02 gt with the stock bullitts just getting old looking lol, looking to change it up and a guy locally is selling some chrome fr500s for 350 with tires that i want to get. i think they look pretty good. what are your thoughts? 17.9 in front 17.10.5 in back

I like bullets but I do agree they are too plain and common. I love saleens as well but all black wheels dont do it for me. They require you to be up close to appreciate them. My favs are the fr500, black chrome lip, black chrome, or just chrome. Same with the 03/04 cobra wheels. Staggered is my favorite set up as well. I'd say if you want to change it up go chrome it looks real slick on silver.
