I get this in 1st gear. Always have since I've owned the car. I think its the clutch just whining...I dunno, I've never had a problem. I get asked if its a SC more than anything

Yeah... there's a whole at the bottom of the manual trans for something or other, and I think the sound of the air around the rotating clutch is getting out through there
