Anyone have one on their car ?
I just picked up a used one and noticed at the back of the cowl there is a large opening where you can see the motor.
While great for flowing some air, I'm a bit worried about water getting in, especially since the car sits outside.

Why would you think a little rain water would hurt the outside of your motor?

And really how much water do you think is gonna go in there unless it's a hurricane & raining sideways lol.

Look at the terminator hood, the reverse scoops channel a bunch of water right through into those vents and it doesn't hurt anything. (I have one too)

your engine is going to get really dirty, and if water does get in the engine bay it can cause problems with the coilpacks or alternator.

Coilpack is kind of what I'm worried about since it is at the back of the motor.
I'm surprised there is such a large opening in the back. Not all cowl hoods are like that are they ?

I've had the hood probably 8 years now and on occasion a hard rain will cause the rear plugs holes to take on water. I throw a towel in the gap when I expect rain.

This, exactly what happens on my car. Itll make the plugs/cops wet. Luckily my car is only a fair weather car and is garage kept.

My car is almost put back together and I got a H.O fibertrend hood with cut-outs and i just plan to use a towel over them when it sits in rain.

Not all hoods are fully open on the back side. Some have vents. Imo it looks better when its open. The vents look ugly.

Could you not run the car the following day and the normal engine heat evaporate any water pretty quick?
Yes but if it rained a ton it'd take forever. Plus that's no good on the cops or plugs. You end up with a ton of junk in the spark plug well.
