new GT500 questions

Very much sounds like cam... I thought he totalled one of his dadas rides?!?

yeah the GT500s are hogs! My step dad has a 03 Cobra and at the time it had Magna flow cat back, and a tune and he meet up with a GT500 and he got him by 1 1/2 car length WITH ME IN THE PASSENGER SEAT! n Im a big boy! :lol

and and ponie cams is this spoiled kid whos dad bought him a GT500 and his dad drives a Viper... hes a member on here...

Stock averages at the wheels is in the 440's. I've seen 420's to 460's.

Some are faster than others I guess. The power to weight ratio requires some deft throttle control to make it fast.

I put a car and a half on a 10th aniv. when I was stock. Twice actually. He was pulley, full exhaust (maybe not headers), CAI, tune and other goodies. Can't remember. Didn't matter. Bad ass termi. Loudest cobra I have ever heard in my life.

Its all a wash.

My car is modded now. There is nothing slow about it. Until you run across modded C5 and C6 cars that is.

no it was plain red and i dont thinks its this cam guy because im in billings Montana unless he drove up here from florida (im going off where your from)

haha, woow, pretty lucky kid. Sooo is he in the clubhouse mostly or the tech area?

They dont impress me either.... Their drivers seem to be rather conceded as well.

I tried asking in their forum what they thought about the handling and got all kinds of mean responses and messages about how much faster they are. Those guys were quite sensitive to any mention of weight. More self conscious than a large girl :).

They seem to be passing up the grey haired vett drivers as the over confident crowd thinking no other car is faster based solely on stock horsepower numbers.

So what if they make some good power stock? They paid 50K for a mustang!

They need like what 1000+hp to run 10s :p:p:p

haha yeah i know where your coming from i hate corvette drivers, like the cars tho but still dont understand paying so much for a car when you can save the difference and make it much faster and cooler plus stock sucks

Yeah its been proven over and over again by many independent parties that the 03-04 Cobras are faster than the GT500s on both road course and drag strip. All professional drivers too. One of them the GT500 made a slightly faster lap at Willow Springs but it was such a narrow margin that it could have been wind speed or another variable. Ford failed at the GT500. If the car wasn't 3900 pounds without driver it would be a different story. If they could have got the weight down to the 3200 pound range that car would be an animal.

nah I havent driven my Cobra up to Billings yet. Ive been up there once and that was in the Wingate van picking up a guest from the air port and on the way back we hit a racoon! LOL I might go up there to the track sometime when they have a test n tune. whens the next test n tune do ya know?

the next friday night street legals are next friday and its the last one of the season Yellowstone Drag Strip Montana racing facility. <website & schedule

I havn't seen a 03/04 termie run a 12.4 quarter like the GT500 has, stock with a little better tires

I like the GT500 because of it's response to modifications, if you look at the GT-500 KR... It weighs even more but has 3.73's and a cold air intake, it ran a mid 11 sec quartermile. So I am sure with those mods done to a regular GT500, it may be even faster..... It just goes to show how well it responds to mods.
