I was wondering on some input for my problem. 00 GT with the usual bolt ons but the suspension seems a little sketchy to me. the guy i got it from lowered the car...its got koni shocks but i can't tell the brand spring so i'm assuming they are also koni. Its only lowered about 2in and has some cheap ass bolt on subframe connectors. my problem is that basically it rides like a rock. i get good traction from takeoff but the cornering and ride quality are in the dumps. i was wondering if anyone knew what i had and if i should get some eibach progressive rate springs instead...

You say it rides like a rock, but it won't corner? I don't follow you here.
Yeah that doesnt add up
Ditto! Mine rides like a rock but that's because it has hypercoil full race springs. If it's that stiff it should corner really well since the bump and droop is being kept to a minimum.

Are they Yellow Koni's. if so those are GODLY. As for the springs, if you are going over bumps and you don't feel 1.5 rebounds. So the initial bump, the recoil and then settle. If it doesn't do that, your springs aren't matched to your shocks. Those shocks are MONSTERS if they are the koni yellows. You would need H&R race springs or supers sports minimum to match those shocks. As for the sub frames, weld em on or find some good ones to weld on. With a super stiff set up your chassis will deform in short order.

Yes it has c/c plates otherwise I'd be going through rubber llike a late night with your mom....the springs are not koni yellows but the shocks are....it feels to me when I take corners that my rear end is driving a different way....I know I can have good cornering and not have to jar my fillings loose at the same time...just not sure how yet

Boy, I am not following those who say "riding like a rock" should handle well :no

If were talkin' a street ride, "rock hard" is NOT the way to go as far as I'm concerned. I run a VERY stiff chassis and spherical joints, but softer springs and settings on shocks. One WANTS some softness to absorb all the bumps on the road so you can keep your tires in good contact with its surface.

My '85 GT rode like a rock and turned quite nice on a Perfect road. Too bad I never lived in Perfect, and only just visited once in a while. I spent 95% of the time driving on your average road.

Jazzer says softer can really satisfy

If the back end feels unstable maybe the bushings are shot and you're getting a lot of play in the control arms making the rear end feel like it's wandering?

LOL! Maybe "like a rock" wasn't the right choice of words but she is certainly STIFF. Stiff enough that my big breasted GF won't ride with me in the car! LOL!
