If you look on the part of the pipe where it contacts the head, there are 2 bolts that hold the pipe down and then there are 2 bigger holes. The two bigger ones are threaded and need to be plugged if the pipe is off. I stuck some fat bolts in mine a few days ago with no problems
 
All I did with mine was to hacksaw off the air tube that enters the block on the back of the head, remove the block, put high heat silicone on it (flat side), turn it around so flat side and silicone are against head/air port and install the bolt that was holding it to the head. Simple and after 4 years not a leak.

I could see how that would work. I like the bolt idea which is what I did. Took like 5 minutes
