I have to agree with Nasty here. I get blinded by people with them a lot. However, I get blinded by people with improperly aimed stockers just as much. So I am not sure if it is a aiming issue or a HID issue. I have the HIDguy setup in my car. I can see a LOT better then I could with my stock headlights. I have had them for many months now and do most of my driving at night. I have been flashed twice. Both on the same day. I lowered the beam, and have not been flashed since.

Improper adjustment is a huge proplem with 90% of the rice land..

Just so everyone know, proper adjustment is to measure from the ground to the center of the housing, park with your bumper 25ft off a wall on level ground, and measure to the same center height mark the spot on the wall witha marker tape or anything that stays while you adjust. The top of your cut off should land on that mark.

These shitty as housings have no cut off. If you think you have a cut off, you've never ridden in a properly projector equipped vehicle. There is no hardline with these housing, not even with the saleen versions. They are still a scattering round housing.

I've posted this before, but check out my trucks projector set up, vs the garbage you get from the s197 housing. Not even close.

Walked off this was about 150ft or so to the wall:

This isn't a exact comparison out of the mustang, but with the downward parked position it shows exactly how non existant a cut off line there is. Light fades from the hottest point until it is non existant rather than abrupty chopping. There's no focus or direction. The fade goes left to right and vertically as evidenced by the scattering light landing on my neighbors garage on the right side of the photo. I'll dig up some photos I have on my drive and show a like for like of projected to the mustang so you can see on a wall the night and day difference. Kinda makes you understand just how bad it can be for other drivers.

The output is far superior of stock for sure, it's just all over the place. Additionally, I don't like the S197 appearance with any of the projector assemblies, so I'll live with it.

Just do everyone a favor and put the hot spot in the proper position and there will be less complaints from folks in general.

Guys, Guys... The housings are the difference between a REAL HID, a retrofit HID, and the cheap Chinese HIDs. There is a huge difference between a real conversion & real HIDs vs these cheap Chinese HIDs. It's not something "easy" either, otherwise it wouldn't cost over a thousand dollars to do a real HID retrofit. It's not my car though but if you blind me going down the road because of some crappy HID lights that are in housings intended for halogen bulbs and throw light every where and/or aimed incorrectly I'm not going to be too happy. Can't tell you how many damn Hondas have blinded me.

Here's a forum dedicated to retrofitting HIDs and doing it the right way.

Also, could invest in the Ford OEM HIDs or even the Saleen HIDs. I've tossed around the idea and when I get expendable cash I'm just going to buy the Ford OEM HIDs.
Ok I see what you are saying Nasty. That is why "real" hid kits from like Saleen are like $600. I didn't realize that a different housing was needed to do it right. I guess next time I will do a little more research. I thought it was a simple bulb swap, now I see it is a little more involved. Old dogs do learn new tricks.

No problem buddy. I've used the "cheap" kits before but ended up pulling them because they just scattered too much light into oncoming driver's eyes even when I aimed them down. Here's a link to what I'm going to do.

theres another shot.

I have some sort of cheap china stuff, but i've never been flashed before and its been on for 5 months. Even though its cheap, with a pretty low aim, it can compensate. I would change my housing, but I just dont have the money for that right now.

Question for people with 6k and 8k in headlights + Fogs

I've always been told to use 3k for fogs because of performance. When there is heavy rain or fog, the 6k+ would make it very difficult to see because it reflects the water vapors very well compared to the 3k which is bright, but is yellow so it shines more onto the road.
Have any of you drove in heavy rain/fog? how is the visibility?

Just installed the 6k fogs and headlights...DDM tuning. Fogs will need the connectors (autolumination.com or other such site can get you pigtails) if you want a sealed connection, otherwise you have wired pins inserted in your factory fog connectors. 6k 35w bulbs were cheaper but a hint of blue on mine....like an icy blue, but not ricy. 6k 55w (my fogs) were a very brilliant white with barely any blue, but ever so slightly noticeable. Cleanest color, in my opinion. 55w would be VERY bright for headlights, though you can just adjust your headlights down a bit more. I think now that the headlights would hurt your eyes at 55w and glaring back off of reflective signs. Now, the 35w on hi-beam is good, but not filling as the low-beam was. Maybe an adjustment of mine would fix this; not sure. Still, 6k is my preference for a DD, 35w is great for headlamps, but you could do 55w with proper beam height adjustment, too. DDM's kit was professional-looking, ballasts (digital) are very compact, wiring is straight-forward with no cutting into the factory stuff (plug-n-play, really!), cheap (paid 120 for both of mine!), shipping was fast, and their site has .pdf files (Adobe Acrobat) on all the installs. The only thing not mentioned is the two wires on the fogs, but remember that the lighter colored wire on the factory connector typically is the positive. Mine was on both sets. Oh, and fogs have adjustments on them, too, if you remove the radiator cover. Phillips screwdriver adjusts both fogs and headlights, with headlights having an optional hex (allen) head wrench built-in. Good luck in your choice and enjoy!

did your 6k (35w) look like my outside ones or less blue.

im beginning to think i have 8 and 10k

I have 6K BiXenon 35W from RetroSolutions and I love them. Have never been flashed. My '06 has the little black "hat" over the end of the bulb that cuts way down on the light scatter. If your car doesn't have this shield, RetroSolutions offers a coating option on the end of their tubes that does the same thing. By the way, I think 6K is perfect. :yes

I think 6000k is perfect also
