My ride has a 306 with 5-7k miles on it. TF Track intake, TF Stage 2 cam, TF 185 CNC heads. Should do 400 horse at crank. I aquired a TF nitrous plate kit for the intake, SO... my guestion is:

The motor was a Summit budget build at the time. Forged flat top pistons, reconditioned rods, and stock crank. How much can I safely throw at it? I have also purchased other "safety" items including auto bottle heater with gauge to monitor pressure, MSD window switch which will activate the nitrous around 3k and deactivate around 6k before the rev limiter. And will be purchasing a MSD 6 Plus which has timing retard to replace my 6A before any button pushing takes place.

SO: How much?
Any suggestion?
Better ideas?

Your limit is the block.... not the parts in it. 500 rwhp is about the max you'll be able to get out of it before it splits in half.

Even with stock, reconditioned rods? I know the block is only good for 550, but I would have thought that the cast crank or rods would take too much of a beating by instant power. ALL ADVICE IS APPRECIATED!!! KEEP IT COMING

Start small, if you are inexperianced with nitrous, stick with a 75 shot until you get a better handle on how to tune the car. Once you get a feel for it, the car will handle as big a shot as your tune will support (Not adding block limits and part failures into the equation).

One other thing to consider, are you using a wet or dry kit??? That will also factor in on how big of a shot you can end up with safely.

It's a wet kit. It came with 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 jets The first time it will be sprayed is going to be on the dyno this spring when my motor gets its' tune. So there really is no time for starting small without paying tons of dyno time. I am only looking to spray 100-150 out of it. Just wanting to know it that will be safe. I left it kind of open in my question, so I understand the lack of responses. Once I get done with the dyno, I will drop back to the 50 jets first to see how the car/tires respond to it. Thanks for the advice... keep it coming!
